Can Jack Wilshere Fill the Void at Arsenal If Cesc Fabregas Leaves This Summer?
Arsene Wenger has brought Jack Wilshere into the starting 11 for Arsenal this season. Being young and inexperienced it took him a bit of time to get used to the pace and competitive level of the Premier League.
He made his first start for Arsenal on August 15, 2010 away to Liverpool at Anfield.
The 19 year old has been with the Gunners since his youth. He has been able to mature and grow as a player on and off the field this season. Wenger has done very well in showing the young Englishmen that he has complete confidence in him.

With the rumor of Fabregas moving to Barcelona resurfacing, if that holds true, could Jack Wilshere step into the big void Fabregas will leave behind?
From watching the two play, they appear to have many of the same characteristics on the field. Clearly Fabregas has the advantage due to the fact that he has the big-match experience and has been playing at a higher level for a long time.
Wilshere does not appear to be too far behind, though. With Jack getting his first start for the English national team this past week, not only does he now have the confidence from Wenger, but he now also has the confidence of Fabio Capello, another well respected coach in the football world.
This season has been hugely uplifting for Wilshere. Playing alongside some of the best players in world football is only going to help him in the long run. Wilshere has had some mental lapses along the season, but that is normal in players at his age. The important part is knowing how to recover from not so good games.
One thing Wilshere will have to improve is his instinct for goal when needed. He still is undecided when he gets the clear path to take a shot. Could that be because of his age, or could it be just because of the Arsenal style of play? From what it appears, not many players on the Arsenal squad like to shoot very often. They are always looking for that perfect pass to walk the ball in the net.
He has been getting more consistent, and watching the match today against Wolves, he had a different confidence level. He looked very much like Fabregas as he glided in and out of the Wolves defense.
Clearly the sale of Fabregas would be a big loss for Arsenal, but it would be a big boost financially for the club. Financially, they are probably the club in Europe sitting the most comfortable in regard to debts. Would Wenger use the money from the sale of Fabregas to improve his squad?
At the age of 19, he shows that he has an abundance of potential for not only Arsenal's future, but also for England's future. In possibly one year's time, Wilshere could find himself in the starting 11 for England at Euro 2012.
Having a great youth developer like Arsene Wenger to guide him in the right direction is what players like Wilshere need. Fabregas arrived at Highbury at a young age and has turned into one of the best midfielders in the world today.
It is interesting to hear what not only Arsenal fans think about this subject, but also football fans in general.
We first must ask this question—will Fabregas actually leave Arsenal this summer, or will he stay at the Emirates if Arsenal is able to bring in silverware?
