Jaguars roar into a new season full of hope
It's finally upon us once again. The greatest time to be a football fan is here. That's right fans the NFL regular season begins once again next weekend. For all Jacksonville Jaguars fan this moment could not come soon enough. Following they're final pre-season game yesterday against the Redskins (which they won 24-3), the Jaguars now switch they're focus to the regular season and they're opening match-up against they're AFC south rivals the Tennessee Titans.
The Jaguars will be looking to improve from last years impressive 11-5 record as they look to finally dethrone the Indianapolis Colts who have dominated the AFC south having won the division every single year since the AFC was created in 2002. In a very tough AFC it will be important for the Jags to start strongly this year as they will face each of there 3 AFC south counterparts in the first month of the season. With an Indianapolis team still dominant, and the Titans and Texans much improved the Jaguars will need to be at they're best if the hope to win they're first division title since 1999.
Jacksonville appears to be ready to go and take on the challenge that is contending in the AFC. Following the teams impressive 24-3 win over Washington, head coach Jack Del Rio seemed full of confidence in his teams performance, “We feel the work we needed to put in has been put in and now it’s time to get ready for the start of the regular season,” coach Jack Del Rio said following a dominant performance at FedEx Field on Thursday night. Bang on Jack, the pre-season is over and now is when the real men come to play. The Jaguars concluded the regular season with a 3-1 record. Starting quarterback David Garrard was equally as elated with the pre-season but is ready to get things going now, “This was a great note for the team to end on. My expectation is to build on last year. We want to win a Super Bowl, but the first thing you have to do is get into the playoffs,” said Garrard following Thursday's game.
The Jaguars appear to have everything in place to really grow from last season's 11-5 finish that saw them make it to the divisional finals. A determined Jacksonville team will look to avenge last year's opening day loss to the Titans on the road to what is hopefully for Jaguar fans a very long playoff run. Nothing more to say except let's get it on, September 7 the NFL returns.
