Oakland Raiders: As the Nation Turns...
Well, it's Monday folks. Another day along the path of the saved or the cursed, depending on your poison.
For today's chaos, let's recap:
First of all, Drew Carter and Oren O'Neal are both done. Officially, both are now on the IR, and to add in a guest, they tossed John Bowie into the mix, which is not a huge loss; Bowie's been struggling all preseason with injury.

Secondly, and this was a shock, Jarrod Cooper is calling it a career.
Yes, Jarrod Cooper. Apparently he's falling behind on the depth chart, and rather than try to hook on with another team, he'll call it a career. It's sad because the guy ain't that old. But in this day and age, it seems that once you pass 30, you're watched like a hawk.
Maybe if someone becomes injured later on, the Raiders can grab him again. Good luck Mr. Cooper.
For our two glaring holes, we did pick up a fullback from the waiver wire. One fellow came from the Colts, Luke Lawton. Luke's experience comes both from special teams, as well as seeing action in 11 total games. The Eagles, who picked him up from the Colts, just sent him packing.
We also got rid of Grant Irons, a large 6'6" linebacker, and Greg Spires, DE, who last played for the Bucs.
Now, for the news flash...the hot money is on the Raiders going for either Joe Horn, Koren Robinson, or somehow dealing for Anquan Boldin. Maybe they'd like another backup QB...unless they leave that to Leinart.
All in all, we're shopping, and as Kiffin said, they may wait until Saturday, when the last round of cuts comes down...because teams will go from 75 players down to the final 53.
Look for some surprises yet.
RCA out.
