Montreal Canadiens: Price Gets Ready to Rumble

As we are debating about Carey Price's future season (will he be able to hold on? And the rest of the crew? Please drop your comments here), the young goaltender is making sure he will give the proper answer the way he wants it to be!

Indeed, after some well-deserved holidays and rest, Montreal's number one goaltender is back to business, getting ready for the big season ahead.

Last month, he left for Calgary to work with a personal trainer. He also met Eli Wilson, his goalie coach, who is also the Ottawa Senators' Roland Melanson.

Going back to skating was not the easiest part of the training. “You have to shake off the rust a little bit. The first three ice times I felt like I didn’t know what I was doing out there. You give it a week or two and you start to feel normal again.”

Summer was also Price's opportunity to get better in french! The young goaltender has found a computer program that helps him get more fluent in his new home's language.

Adding to that, he gets help from his French Canadian teammates. With Laraques and Tanguay added to the Montreal roster, I believe he should be able to shoot a few sentences by the end of the year! Bob Gainey really thinks about everything!

Taking a look back at his great season (yeah yeah, leave it with the Flyers' episode!), Price recalls Cristobal Huet's sudden trade last February. "They brought me back to Montreal and everything started to roll from there and things started going really well. Then they traded Chris (Huet) to Washington, and it was like getting tossed into the fire.”

When asked about Gainey's off-season work, Price declared to be glad to have a veteran goalie like Mark Denis in the organization. "There’s just me and Yaro, 21 and 23 years old, that was it. There was just us two young guys and I think Bob (Gainey) figured to bring in somebody a little bit older to have around the room.”

Recall that at the end of last season, he declared to the medias that he will be working on a special diet, in order to get more mobility. I hope Latendresse and him kept contact through the summer!
