NFL Weekly Predictions—Week Three

Zac JonesSep 25, 2010

Oh me oh my. Two slightly average weeks at best. While Week 2 was better, it was most definitely not what I was hoping for. I made the biggest mistake you can make as a "picker", by basing more than a few of my Week 2 predictions on Week 1 performances.

Bad call. Where were you Seahawks? Where were you Redskins? And the worst of it all, I didn't go with my gut feeling. Thanks a lot Vikings, I knew Miami would beat you, but I thought Grandpa Favre would make sure his Vikings didn't start 0-2. Did you see that? Mark one down for a "Brett Favre is old" joke! Zing!

So anyways, Week 3—save me, and get me over this pesky 70% mark. Hey, I can at least count on the Pats beating the Bills right? Yeah, I think that one is pretty safe. The Bills look like Charlize Theron in the movie 'Monster'. If you have seen it, you know what I'm sayin'! But didn't she win a Golden Globe for that? Crap.

So here are the stats:

TOP NEWS

Cowboys Giants Football
Rams Seahawks Football
Mississippi Football
  • Last week Win/Loss: Nine correct. Seven wrong. (65.6 percent)
  • Best Pick: Kansas City Chiefs over the Cleveland Browns. Not because it was an upset or anything, but because the Chiefs are on their way to making me look good, by predicting a 3-0 start for the arrow heads.
  • Worst Pick: Vikings over Dolphins. I knew it, just knew it! Went against my gut feelings on this one and paid for it.

And just for fun, I have a side bet on these predictions this week with some of my buddies. So winning is a must, I can't go down like that! Lets get it started.

San Fransisco 49ers at Kansas City Chiefs
Winner: Chiefs
Why? I said they'd start out 3-0, so that's what they are going to do. Simple.

Somethings cookin' in KC. And it isn't BBQ

Cleveland Browns at Baltimore Ravens
Winner: Ravens
Why? The Browns best player is Josh Cribbs, enough said.

Dallas Cowboys at Houston Texans
Winner: Texans
Why? Mostly to feed my dark side. Not many things would make me feel better this week than a Cowboys 0-3 start.

Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings
Winner: Lions
Why? I need an upset, and the Queens are not looking so hot. I know, it's biased. I don't care.

Buffalo Bills as New England Patriots
Winner: Pats
Why? Once again, because it's the Bills.

Atlanta Falcons at New Orleans Saints
Winner: Falcons
Why? Because I'm too blind to see the Saints are still the team to beat. But, Reggie Bush's injury makes the game planning against the Saints a little easier for the about to fly away with it Falcons.

Tennessee Titans at New York Giants
Winner: Giants
Why? Titans like to make me look stupid. Just saying. Still, I'm not a Vince Young believer and neither is Jeff Fisher. G-Men win this one. Don't break my stride Chris Johnson!

Pittsburgh Steelers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Winner: Steelers
Why? The Bucs' run has to end sometime, and while I think they are putting the right pieces together, Steel City is just too much D for these pirates.

Green Bay Packers at Chicago Bears

Winner: Packers

Why? Bears are a fluke. Green Bay is going to go to the Super Bowl this year. Jay Cutler will remind himself why he's Jay Cutler. Can you say, "Another interception for the Packers defense!" Cheeseheads put the smackdown on Monday night.

Not again..

Cincinnati Bengals at Carolina Panthers
Winner: The Ocho and TO show (Bengals)
Why? See above.

Philadelphia Eagles at Jacksonville Jaguars
Winner: Eagles
Why? MJD and MSW are not getting enough TD's. Mike Vick is going to have his way with these kittens. The only thing that would make a Philly win better is if they started playing "Who Let The Dogs Out?" over the stadium speakers. Too soon?

Washington Redskins at St. Louis Rams
Winner: Skins'
Why? While Bradford isn't looking as bad as I thought he would, the Rams are still a lousy team overall. Redskins are coming off a tough week two overtime loss to the Houston Texans and get a great opportunity to take their frustrations out on St. Louis.

Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos
Winner: Colts
Why? So the Colts lost Week 1. Big deal. You know, there is at least one person over the last couple of years who watches the Colts horrible preseasons, and slightly sluggish dry spells over the last few years who thinks their run is done. That guy is an idiot. Colts pump out more 12 wins seasons than the Los Angeles Clippers. Proof, just look at their 2008 season.

Oakland Raiders at Arizona Cardinals
Winner: Cardinals
Why? I don't know really. The Cards' haven't looked good at all this year. Kurt Warner is now "Dancing With The Stars" and so is the coaching staff down there in Glendale. The Raiders on the other hand are confused. What's new? I was calling for a breakout season for Oakland, but it looks as though they are still below average. My gut is telling me Arizona gets it together this week and puts together a solid win.

San Diego Chargers at Seattle Seahawks
Winner: Chargers
Why? The Chargers are a talented team that has yet to find their groove. Now that Rivers has got a couple of games to adjust with his new receivers and backfield, I expect the Chargers to reel off a few here soon. Why continue the W's against Mr. SoCal himself, Pete Carroll.

New York Jets at Miami Dolphins
Winner: Dolphins
Why? Jets looked good last week. Still, Marky Mark pulling out two good games in a row? I'll leave you to decide that. You already know what I think.

Week 3 in the books, I look forward to seeing every pick being right. I need it right now. Once again, sorry Bills fans. We still love Ryan Miller

U.S.A. U.S.A. U.S.A!!

So I'm excited for Hockey to start..
