Brock Lesnar Faces a Do-or-Die Fight at UFC 87

Jonathan HunleyCorrespondent IAugust 8, 2008

This Saturday is UFC 87: Seek and Destroy, and Brock Lesnar will be ready to do just that. I see Brock coming into the same situation that he did against Frank Mir.

Heath Herring is an accomplished opponent with a lot more experience than Lesnar, and yet people view Brock as the favorite. While I am personally a fan of Brock Lesnar, I don't view him as a favorite. We are talking about a guy that has two professional fights in his career.

There is no doubting that he is a phenomenal athlete, or that he showed flashes of greatness against Frank Mir. I thought that he was going to win early on in that fight, but then he showed his inexperience by getting caught in that knee bar.

I hope that doesn't happen to him this weekend, too, but I'm afraid it might happen. He doesn't possess enough technical skill nor experience to overcome Herring. Remember, this is the same Heath Herring that went the distance against Fedor and Noguiera (Nos. 1 and 2 in the world at heavyweight).

Brock will get into trouble and escape in this fight, but he won't escape with the W. I'm going to give it to Heath "Crazy Horse" Herring in three rounds by unanimous decision.

Other Predictions for UFC 87

Georges St. Pierre wins by TKO in the third round to retain his Welterweight Title.

Roger Huerta wins by unanimous decision in what will be a "Fight of the Year" candidate.

Manny Gamburyan will defeat Rob Emerson by decision.

Demian Maia will defeat Jason MacDonald by submission in the second round.

Check back Sunday, where I will breakdown the fights and give my analysis on the show as a whole.
