To Hall of Fame, Please look at some Special Teams!!!
Well, another class of players has entered the Hall of Fame. Some, like Art Monk, have waited a time. And Some, were great at their position, but never got the ring, like Andre Tippett.
But one thing that still galls me to this day, is why special teams don't get the nod. On a recent program, some of the older players made the statement, that they aren't real players. Someone who's stuck on special teams, for example, should be playing something like wide receiver, or Tight End, or linebacker.
The writers, who vote for these players, think it would be a crock, to put in a player who only comes in maybe 5-6 times a game, and then wouldn't be a factor, like a QB or a RB.

Controversial Usyk TKO Win 🤔

Usyk-Verhoeven Winners & Losers 🥊
Thing is, ask yourself this question: If someone like Steve Tasker, makes 4 key tackles in the game, and makes it so your opponent can't get to the 10 yard line, wouldn't that be a valued addition to your club?
Or, in the case of Ray Guy, for the Raiders... on the numbers board, he had only 3 blocked kicks, in 14 years... do you know a Wide Receiver, who has dropped less than 3 passes in his entire career?
When Devin Hester comes up for his nod, in 10-15 years, will they simply shake their heads, because he wasn't a good enough WR?
Some players are considered pure players. Jan Stenrud, for the chiefs, was inducted as a kicker.
H.O.F. Ted Hendricks, a great special teams player, had a good task as a linebacker, but his real chance to shine, came on special teams, blocking kicks, with that size factor.
Dante Hall, his major weapon was the returning game....no again?
It's about time for the hall of fame to figure out some way to measure these guys, by their own peers.
Guy's been waiting since 1990 to get in... every year, he's on the boards... and every year, Dr. Z and their brand of foolishness blocks great players from their rightful reward.
If you don't think special teams are something....
Then why name a college award after a guy for his skills, and not get him in the Hall of Fame?
