As everyone know's...
Jason Taylor has been traded from Miami to Washington and
Jeremy Shockey has been traded from NYG to New Orleans
Which team got the better player?
Lets start with Jeremy Shockey...
He was at one point one of the best tight ends that the NFL projected...as we seen in last years Super Bowl, it's now a different story..Seeing that he was injured lets give him the benefit of the doubt that he's still in good playing form...so here's his last season stats...
Rec-57 / Yds-619 / Avg 10.9 / Td's 3
Lets take a look at Tight Ends within the same caliber such as Antonio Gates. Gates triples Shockey's Td's, had 28 more receptions, 365 more yards and actually made a good asset to the Chargers team.
We don't know if Shockey can contribute those type of numbers to the New Orleans Saints. With McAllister, Bush, Colston, Patten, and now Shockey on the same roster opposing defenses will have their hand's full.
Can Shockey be in his "prime time" Giants form with this New Orleans Offense?
Now to Jason Taylor...
This Defensive End has been wanting out of Miami for quite some time now, and with last seasons Dolphins performance, who can blame him? The Redskins make an awesome move to get the dominant Defensive End.
Last Season Jason Taylor put up 56 Tackles, 11 Sacks, four Forced Fumbles, and one Interception. Those stats from last season mirror the stats of the retired Michael Strahan, and everyone knows Michael Strahan had a great season.
Depending where Shockey will line up, it'll be a good showdown when the Redskins take on the Saints Sept. 14.
To sum it all up, it's clear as day here that the Redskins definitely got the better player in this situation. Not taking anything away from Jeremy Shockey, BUT Jason Taylor in my eyes is the better contributor.

Jason Taylor is a great football player, no doubt about that. But if you look at what player will have the most impact on their new team.
It's Shockey, he will not even have to catch a ball to make a difference. Because Defenses will have to account for him, that opens up Colston, and Bush down the field. Plus the running game benefits, since teams will have to play more nickle.
So even if his stats after 2008 are not great, you can believe the offense as a whole will be better.
Jason Taylor will have to make tackles, he will have to make sacks, and be disrubtive to have an impact. He can definitly do that, but he will need a supportive cast to help him out.

Jeremy Shockey is the best TE any New York team has ever had. I'm sad to see him go. Both are future HOF players, but as Rob said, Taylor will need a supporting cast, which the Redskins lack.
