THE Fantasy Football Experts League
How do you define Fantasy Football Expert? At what level of fantasy footballness to you achieve this? Is it by won/loss record? Is it by getting paid to talk about it? Is it because people tell you they are an expert? The last two years I have been given this label by being invited to participate in expert leagues. Last season I won the league, making me a little more comfortable with the title. This year I was given the label by Junkyard Jake with an invite to the Bum Phillips Texas Barbecue Fantasy Experts Challenge. So anyway, right now, I’m going with you are defined as a fantasy football expert by others. I don’t care, I’m just happy to be in this league, should be fun.
First, let’s talk a little about Junkyard Jake’s site. If you have not been over there you have to check it out! This site is a tool that you could spend hours sifting through as it has, I believe, every friggen fantasy football related link on the web in there somewhere. Check it out, bookmark it. Next time your searching for something go over there and I’m sure it’s linked to somewhere. Also, they have placed the Football Jabber feed on the home page and for this I’m very grateful.

Now the league. I have been looking forward to this for a while and I must have lost the damn sticky note that had the draft date on it because it started yesterday and two days ago I was not aware. I was very happy to be placed in the Stevie Ray Vaughn Division. Big fan of Stevie. Not so happy about the #8 position in the draft. Wanna see how the draft is going? Let’s have a look at the first round…

I’m not big on taking a QB in the first round. Never have been. At the #8 spot though I was put in a position that I really didn’t care to be in. Choices include Frank Gore, (my feeling was he was the top back to consider here) who faces the toughest Run D schedule, Randy Moss, I’m even less likely to take a WR than a QB in round one, or Tom Brady. I could go for a RB here but I could be leaving a lot of points on the board by not taking Brady. Tommy outscored Peyton by 166 points in this leagues scoring system last year. Nobody expects him to repeat his numbers but I also don’t expect many teams to stop the Patriots passing game again either. I have to cringe and make the jump here, going with Brady. Hopefully a RB will fall to me that isn’t much of a drop off from the available.
I will update on this from time to time. Maybe every couple of rounds during the draft and then during the season.
