Oakland Raiders: 2010 Offense & Defense

Holdon JohnsonCorrespondent IApril 27, 2010

Now that the draft is over lets take a look at what might shape out to be the 2010 Oakland Raiders starters.

Offense :

QB- Jason Campbell, Bruce Gradkowski, Kyle Boller

I believe that Russell will be cut because he won't beat out Campbell for the starting spot and i highly doubt he will take a pay cut so bye bye bust.

HB- Mcfadden, Bush, Rock Cartwright

Since Mcfadden was the 4th overall pick I think he will be the starter come opening day and depending on how he performs will decide how many carries he gets and if he struggles Bush will be inserted as the starter. Hopefully we can see what Mcfadden can really bring to the table if he can stay healthy.

WR- Chaz Schilens, Louis Murphy, Darrius Heyward-Bey, Jacoby Ford, JLH, Nick Miller, Yamon Figurs

Pretty much we have so many WR, and during training camp and preseason will provide us with who is going to make the team. I hope Schilens can stay healthy because when he has played hes made a big contribution to the offense because hes a big body, good hands, and has speed. I'm looking for 2nd year starters Murphy and Heyward-Bey to improve from their rookie campaigns. Murphy was a solid player but had some problems catching the ball as did DHB. Jacoby Ford might get some time at WR but he will be competing for KR/PR and then we also have JLH and Nick Miller who were our KR/PR guys last year until Miller got injured and JLH was horrible compared to 08.

OL-Mario Henderson, Robert Gallery, Jared Veldheer, Bruce Campbell, Samson Satele, Chris Morris, Cooper Carlisle, Kalif Barnes, Erik Pears.

I have no idea who the 5 Starters are going to be at this point. I would love to hear from the Nation who do you think will be the starters come opening day?

FB- Oren O'neal, Marcel Reece

Will see on these guys also because O'neal is suppose to be good but he is injury prone and was out all of last year.

TE- Zach Miller, Brandon Meyers

Not much to say here because Miller pretty much takes care of business catching and blocking on the field, look for him to have a good year with a real QB under center.

Defense :

DL- Matt Shaughnessy, Richard Seymour, Quetin Groves, Lamar Houston, Jay Richardson, Desmond Bryant, Tommy Kelly, William Joseph,

We can set up our Dline so many ways because we also have some hybrid players in Trevor Scott, Kamerion Wimbley, Quentin groves because they can play DE and LB so it will be interesting to see how they use them but i see Wimbley and Scott used more as LB and Groves more as DE because we have enough LB. We have so many options I don't know how to set up our line, but i guess thats a good thing.

LB- Rolando Mcclain, Kamerion Wimbley, Thomas Howard, Trevor Scott, Ricky Brown

Mcclain will obviously be the starting MLB and I think Wimbley and Scott will be starting OLB.

Safeties- Tyvon Branch, Michael Huff, Mike Mitchell, Hiram Euguene

Starting SS Branch and Starting FS Huff but look for Mitchell to get so play in that Wolverine package for blitzing that was pretty effective. I would like to get him on the field more because he plays all out and can hit hard. He was a special teams weapon last season. The way Hiram got thrown down on week 17 by Mcgahee was the most pathetic attempt at a tackle i have ever seen, so he shouldnt be a starter at all.

CB- Nnamdi Asomaugha, Chris Johnson, Walter Mcfadden, Standford Routt

NA21 and Johnson will be opening day starters and Mcfadden will be the nickel corner because Routt wasn't very great at it and Mcfadden may be taking Johnsons starting job pretty soon because he got exposed many times last season.

Let me know what you guys think and i would like to hear other opinions of who the starters should be.
