Bruins Center will Practice with Team, Awaits Clearance to Play

Monday morning brought good news for Bruins fans, as they saw center Marc Savard back on skates for the first time since suffering a grade 2 concussion after taking an elbow from Matt Cooke in early February.

Tuesday afternoon, fans were treated with even better news as word came from the team that Savard has passed his final neuropsychological test, and should be cleared to skate with the team any day.

The news is very promising as all Bruins fans can remember all to well the time missed by teammate Patrice Bergeron a few years back after suffering a grade three concussion early in the 2007 season. Bergeron missed the 72 games that season,  and went through a lengthy comeback that lasted close to 11 full months.

Although it is still unlikely Savard would return to play in the teams first round series with the Sabres, the hope has started to emerge that the play maker could see action come the second round, should the Bruins advance past the Sabres, however a final clearance from his doctor will be required before he sees game action.

Savard missed a total of 41 games this season, as a broken foot kept him sidelined earlier in the year.  The center had 10 goals and 23 assists in those games, and his time off was a big reason why the team finished with the second worst offense in the league.

The past few days have been full of good news in Boston, as the team took a 2-1 series lead after a 2-1 win Monday night. They will look to take complete control of the series tomorrow night in Game Four. A win would have the team one victory shy of the Eastern Conference Semifinals for the second straight year.
