DC Donovan Vs. The Philly Fools
Here are my quick thoughts, like really quick on the Donovan McNabb trade.
1. The Eagles are dumb.
They are dumb for trading Donovan McNabb. He's been there 11 years and to essentially put the total blame on him for not winning a championship is ridiculous. I understand that they need to get younger, and they didn't want to pay McNabb his $6.2 million dollar roster bonus, but just restructure his contract, duh. Also, before you put the blame on him, Marino never won a championship either and in 12 years, Peyton Manning has only won once.

2. Kevin Kolb > Donovan McNabb

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
If they really think Kevin Kolb is going to take them there, get real. Maybe later, but definitely not now. Before you mention Kolb's back to back 300 yard passing games, look at who he played. He went up against the Chiefs who suck and should give up 300 yards passing a game. The other was against the Saints who are not great defensively. Against the Saints, he threw for 31 for 51 for 391 yards and two tds. Sounds good, but he threw three interceptions, his team only scored 22 points and the Eagles lost the game. Are you sure you still want him?
3. Same Division
I'm not sure if the Eagles remember this, but just two years ago Brett Favre was traded from the Green Bay Packers to the New York Jets which was out of the division and conference the Packers were in. Now, Brett wanted to play for the Vikings which were in the same conference and division. The Packers weren't dumb, they knew that facing Favre twice a year would not be a good look. Rewind to last year, when Favre back-doored his way under center for the Minnesota Vikings and faced the Packers twice and whipped their ass with ease both times. It was clear, Aaron Rodgers was good, but Favre was better and if the Packers didn't know it when they opted for Rodgers over Favre two years prior that they knew it after those two loses.
Apparently the Eagles don't care about facing Donovan McNabb twice a year. The excuse is going to be that they wanted to make Donovan McNabb happy but I don't buy it. If I'm Eagles management I don't want to see him twice a year unless I don't think he's that good. Theoretically the fans pay the salary for the organization, but that's not totally true although the Eagles management must believe it to be. It's the only reason McNabb is being traded, if McNabb was loved by the fans he'd still be there. He was under appreciated by the fans and it seeped into the front office.
What people don't appreciate is the fact that McNabb is the reason the Eagles have got where they are. McNabb has gotten the Eagles to the pinnacle several times with little to no help at all. Without McNabb the Eagles would have not gone anywhere and will not be going anywhere for quite sometime. McNabb in DC will be one of those roadblocks keeping the Eagles from going anywhere for quite sometime. I can't wait to hear Philly talk radio the two Mondays after McNabb gets his revenge.
5. Mike and McNabb
I'm slow to jump on coaching bandwagons unless it's warranted. Mike Shanahan is reason to jump on the bandwagon of the Redskins. He's a great coach that always has a running game which is what McNabb needed in Philly. Before Shanahan got to Denver, John Elway could not win the big one much like McNabb. Listening to Colin Cowherd earlier, he made some key points about Elway and McNabb. McNabb has better numbers than John Elway at the 11 year mark in their careers. McNabb has more playoff wins, 33 more tds, 67 fewer ints, a better completion %, and has thrown for more yards than John Elway at this point in their careers. Perception is not always reality, because if there were not numbers to back up the claim I wouldn't believe it because John Elway was all-world in the eyes of most football fans. Elway didn't take off until Shanahan got there and he had good players around him so except the same for McNabb.
The Eagles fans and management are really stupid. I'm amazed at how Allen Iverson never won a championship but he's revered in that city. While McNabb has been just as good a player, better citizen, and taken them closer to more championships but gets no respect at all from Philly. McNabb has to be the happiest person in the world today. He's in a new city and has a breath of fresh air. He's getting a new start with a great coach who has two Super Bowl rings. He has weapons around him now. He gets to face his old team twice a year most likely for the rest of his career.
Bottom line, it's McNabb's time and he has no excuses.
That's all I got,
