Eagles Really Wanted to Move On. McNabb Given Away to Redskins
Did the Eagles really want to move on this badly? Is Kevin Kolb really that good in practice? The Eagles today traded Quarterback Donovan McNabb to the Washington Redskins for a second round pick (37th overall) and either a third or fourth round pick in next year's draft.
For a quarterback that had led his team to five NFC Championship games and a Super Bowl appearance and has played at a Pro Bowl level for at least seven of the 10 years, that's highway robbery.
Yes, Joe Montana was practically given away in 1993 to the Kansas City Chiefs (49ers received Safety David Whitmore and a third round pick in the '94 draft), but they had at least two full years of Steve Young starting and knew they had a Hall of Famer in the making.

Do the Eagles feel they have the same thing in Kolb? Was there so much pressure to get rid of the quarterback who was booed back on draft day inĀ 1999 that they couldn't hold out to draft day for a better deal?
Apparently McNabb wanted to go to the Redksins, and that's smart considering the coaching he'll receive from Mike Shannahan. Maybe the Eagles felt as though they owed it to McNabb to give him his wish.
Either way, the Redksins made out like bandits, and Andy Reid gets to coach his quarterback of the future.
The question is if Reid is wrong, will he be the coach of the future?
