Brett Favre: Where Will He Land?
Brett Favre is coming back. Travis Henry is not. A whole bunch of rookies are yet to be signed. The Favre deal is getting more coverage than MLB or the upcoming election (thank God!) and it's only July 13th.
So where will Brett Favre will go? I believe that just like San Francisco did with Joe Montana, that the Packers have to either trade him or let him go. With that in mind, let's look at a few possible landing spots for the aging, but able, NFL legend.
Best fit #1 is Minnesota.

I am, of course, writing about the best scenario for Favre. With a defense and running game that this team has and the only real weakness is the QB and WR positions. With an quarterback upgrade having the magnitude of Favre over Jackson, this would automatically upgrade the WR corps as well. What does this equal? NFC Championship.
Best fit #2 is Tampa Bay.
To reunite with Gruden and stay close to home. Almost sounds like it was meant to be.
Best fit #3 is Chicago.
The only way Favre is going to be available to Chicago or Minnesota is if they give him an unconditional release. I don't see them releasing him without compensation.
Best fit #4 is Buffalo.
This would be a tremendous upgrade at the QB position. Favre and Brady in the same division.
Best fit #5 is Houston.
This would make a lot of sense to me based on the solid job that Sage Rosenfels did in replacing an injured Matt Shaub in 07. Brett Favre would be in charge of a quality team with a good mix of youth and experience. Andre Johnson may have a huge year.
I think that the Packers would be foolish to just release Favre without any compensation. And if Favre sits out this season his career is probably over. For that reason I believe that Tampa Bay, Buffalo or Houston are the best guesses at this point. Of course you always have to leave Washington in the mix. It will just come down to which team is deemed a player away from getting to the playoffs. And what they will give for his services.
Thanks for reading. Let me know what you think.
