What's Wrong With Tom Cable's Offense?

Someone attempted to send me this video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=apsjDl33JgQ,  as evidence of JaMarcus Russell's inability to play QB for the Oakland Raiders. Bad choice.

To me, this is evidence for the defense and not the prosecution. Look at the O-line, they are clueless. And even worse is the Damn playcalling.

Where the hell are the receivers? Not ONE crossing route. Not One. The Oakland Raiders are the only team in the NFL that doesn't run a "Drag" or "Crossing route" as an outlet for a QB under direst. I know that I have already gone over the common BR Raider fan's head already, so let me break it down for the special kids.

When a QB is under pressure, (that means when a sub 4.5, 250 pound D-linemen comes at you full speed, unblocked and attempts to kill you) He needs to throw the ball quickly. But as you can clearly see in this video there isn't anyone to throw to.

In particular at 2:18 in the video. People say that JaMarcus doesn't survey the field. Not true. JaMarcus biggest issue is FOOTWORK, not field vision.

In this play, JaMarcus niftily buys time, looks right, looks left, looks right again scrambles left, then realizes that all of his receivers are 70 yards down field and no-one is there to help him out so he wisely throws it out of bounds. Who called that play?

This kind of playcalling happened far too often, causing Raider legend Jim Plunkett to go on a rant on how Cable's horrible playcalling kills JaMarcus Russell, quote "I don't understand, you've got to have a crossing route on EVERY play, It doesn't make sense."

Don't worry Plunkett, I understand. And obviously so does Al, thats why his first priority of the offseason was to bench Tom "Basic" Cable.

And Raider fans wonder why Al has not been active this offseason. He doesn't have to, he already made the best move of any NFL team this offseason by demoting Cable. The problem is not the QB, its the system. Gradkowski had mild success, but look what the O-line got him: Two mangled kneecaps.

Cable thinks he is slick by bring out the four receiver sets for his little buddy Gradkowski. But you ain't foolin' me, or Al buddy. Too late to save face by blaming your futility on your young, second year QB.

Most sports fans aren't that smart. They just want to see their team win, even if there is biased involved. They don't understand NFL politics. The modern NFL is a soap Opera fueled by gossip and conjecture by the likes of their media puppets such as Adam Scheffter and Tim Nagasaki. Ratto is a bum too.

So, you see Raider fan, JaMarcus IS earning his money as the Raiders resident fall guy. And despite their losing ways, the Raiders are STILL the most popular team in the NFL despite their blatant beef with Al Davis.

If Russell and the Raiders offense doesn't improve under Jackson, I will have to eat my words. What will you do when it does?
