Jamarcus Confusion Is Great For Other Fans

There seems to be no greater issue, that is more divisive to Raider Fans, than the saga of one Jamarcus Russell.

Russell proponents will have you believe that he is just finding his feet and that most of the blame for his short comings as an NFL player are a result of external influences; O-line, coaching, WR's, poor drafting...etc etc. They compare him to other QB's with similar records and even use race as a reason for his detractors dislike.

Opponents of Jamarcus point to his poor performance, waist line, work ethic, dress style...etc etc and believe that Russell shares the Lion share of the blame for his failings. They point to the performance of the backup QB Gradkowski and the way he managed the QB duties when he was in behind center.

The QB position is unlike any other in professional sports; he is essentially the teams General on the field. In the huddle he barks the commands, reads the defenses, changes the plays at the line and decides who to throw to. A good General will make up for an awful lot of weaknesses at other positions...

...Generals can also lose the support of the troops. Linemen won't block, WR's get sloppy on routes and drop balls, runners don't find gaps.

From a neutrals perspective, this is sauce for the goose. There is nothing better to see than internal dissatisfaction and negativity on the other side of the ball. You see it in their eyes, you feel it in their bodies.

"I am playing for my paycheck and can't wait for the end of the 4th quarter"

BINGO! Another step closer to our goal.

Long live the controversy with the Raiders, Big Al and Jamarcus, I say (because I really hated it when Ken Stabler, Lyle Alzado, Ronnie Lott, Art Shell, Jim Plunkett, Marcus Allen, Howie Long and a host of other Raider greats beat up on my Steelers...)

We hope to see more of Jamarcus (as long as his performances repeat from previous years) and less of ANY QB; black, white, yellow, red, green, orange - who can move the ball against us.

(P.S. For all of those 'Karl Rove Playbook' mud slingers out there - I grew up watching one of the greatest QB's of all time, Warren Moon, KILL my team on the regular. Man I HATED THAT GUY...

...Man - I wished he played for my team)
