So you say Wade Phillips job is in jeopardy? That after next season Wade Phillips is replaced by the understudy Jason Garret...who only stayed on because Jerry told him that after next season he is in Wade is out?

Hmm, sounds like a load of crap to me! Considering that Jerry, unlike Al Davis of the Raiders, doesn't hire then fire after one or two years. Then what do you call Chan Gailey's firing after his second season?

A mistake by a ego owner for one, meddling and two, not allowing Gailey longer to try and put pieces together to see if he could turn it win it all. This explains why Jerry had to learn two very hard lessons, which were that new coaches who are under puppet control aren't to blame for non success when the owner can't keep his hands off.

Dents aren't made after only two seasons.

Which is why when Dave Campo took over in 2000 as head coach, Jerry extended him more time to see where he could go with it. After three years of 5-11, Jones was left with no choice but to fire Campo and hire a real head coach

Forcing Jones to once again take his hands off the controls and stepping back away and let someone who could handle it, Handle it!!!

Ladies and gentleman I give you Bill Parcells!

So what does all this have to do with Wade Phillips and his possible removal from head coach to civiline after the 2008 season?

Simply this, Wade Phillips is not on the hot seat. Jones would be stupid to just bring in Garret who has no experience head coaching a team, allowing someone of Phillips' experience to walk out the door without first allowing him the same kinds of chances Jerry Jones extended his previous coaches.

I expect Phillips to be back for 2009 after that is up in the air but at least for now his job is safe. The rest is up to him.

  1. I guarantee you, he is, in fact, that stupid.

  2. I concur!!

  3. Yea, what the hell does Jerry know?? He has only won 3 Super Bowls in 20 years and owns the richest sports franchise in the world...what a dumb ass

    1. he may not be an idiot but the guy is a snake...building that stadium on half taxpayer dollars and then asking them to pony up massive amounts of money for a chance to buy a season ticket, dont tell me you admire him ?!?!

  4. Rohit-
I admire my grandfather, not Jerry Jones or anybody in sports, but I do respect him. Texas stadium is one of the worst buildings in the NFL and if you look at the votes to decide if the public would support helping pay for the stadium you will see that the city was in favor.

That being said, the last person that should be criticizing another teams owner is a Redskins fan. Your owner charges $25 to park and has top 10 ticket prices for THE WORST STADIUM IN THE NFL. Synder is the owner, and defacto GM and does not give interviews. He runs the second most profitable team in the NFL and does not speak to the media unless he sets up the interview and reviews the questions first. He won't give the Washington Post any interviews because they wrote a negative article about how his charging the public to watch practice a couple of years ago allowed opposing scouts to watch and video tape practices.

Jones is without a doubt a shrewed business man and often speaks bluntly about his team and his ideas but I would rather have an arrogant owner who has proven he knows how to win than a little young prick who thinks he knows everything and HAS NEVER WON ANYTHING...

Jones main concern is the Dallas Cowboys, Snyder's main concern is MONEY...

    1. ouch im still smarting...i honestly didnt know that about snyder but trust me I do not respect or admire him and completely agree that he is one of the biggest know-nothing, aholes that ive ever read anything about...my post was based on what I have read about Jerry Jones recently and the universal "thats terrible" criticism he is currently receiving.
Taxpayers might have approved it but didn't construction costs go over by like $200 million or so? Excuse me, you speak of winning, when's the last time Dallas won a playoff game or did anything in the postseason recently...about as futile as the Skins if not more so? Finally, this is not a personal attack, unless you are related to Jerry Jones, dont get so flamed up, this little discussion will not affect anyone or anything in the slightest so calm down. Trust me, Jones' main concern, like every other owner, is money, no different from Dan Snyder.

  5. Last playoff win was in 1996, with the 'current' crop of players 0-2. No one is denying that it is time for Romo and the Boys to take the next step and win a playoff game this season. I was talking more generally about winning since I have been a football fan (about 20 years). The year I started watching was Jones's second year as the owner. I have been witness to alot of good, some bad, some BS but all in all, alot of winning, 3 Super Bowls since 1992.

I would not argue that Jones is arrogant and brash, and after he fired Jimmy Johnson I hated him for years. It was when he gave up his idea of running everything himself after 4 terrible seasons and hired Parcells that brought me back. He saw his bs mistake and fixed it. He let Parcells do his thing and because of it and some smart FA moves by himself the Cowboys are the most talented team in the NFL and a favorite to make a run this season. Check out my article on Jones--he has done an outstanding job positioning the Cowboys for success in the next 2-3 years...

Snyder has made no secret that he wants a new stadium downtown, something that can generate even more $$ than that concrete cereal bowl in PG. And the economic plan he is using as a guide is the current one in Dallas...so maybe in the next ten years the DC area can experience the stadium situation first hand...

And don't worry I don't take it personal, it sports...I have a real life too...

  6. Remember this gentleman Parcells in 4 years didn't win the Cowboys a single playoff game Dave Campo
in 3 years as head coach..couldn't even get the Cowboys past .500. Phillips got them past the .500 and I
think has a damn good chance at getting Dallas far in the playoffs

call it the homer in me, my point is yes Jerry can be stupid (at times) as owner but seriously Jason Garret is not ready to be handed the reigns to America's Team. Not yet let's see where Phillips takes
the team this year, last year it was 13-3 and the first round, this year? let's wait and see

  7. thats the point, wade has'nt taken anything anywhere!!he is a puppet and the team parcels built went 13-3!it happens whenever jerry hires a real coach, they put together a good team,it starts working and the team starts winning then jerry thinks he can handle it,he gets rid of the real coach, hires a puppet and in two or three years he has it all fucked up again!usually takes him about three more years to figure out he fucked everything up then a coupla more for him to hire someone to fix it!either way,we as cowboy fans are fucked!just sit back and watch!all this t.o.,packman bullshit is going to blow!

  8. Most of it is Parcells guys but Phillips had a hand in the 13-3 season last year something Parcells couldn't do in his 4 years in Dallas

  9. be more specific please, texas, because anyone can walk around and pose like a coach, jerry made every important decision, you can bet on it!i bet he even has final say on game plans!i'm sure if t.o. is'nt getting enough attention jerry pipes in on wades headset and tell him to get the ball to t.o.!so please tell me where wades hand was besides on his wallet!!

  10. btw if bill would have still been here we probably would'nt have self destructed in the last couple games and might have whipped the giants and the pats!!just my 2 cents.

  11. Even under Parcells we self destructed in 03, 04, 05, Dallas went 2-2 in December in 06 Parcells Cowboys went 2-3 in the month of December and lost the playoff game to Seattle, so the truth is
even Parcells couldn't stop the slide and eventual self destructing Dallas under went when it came
to the home stretch of the season

  12. don't get me wrong,i love wade phillips and his dad is a really great coach!just a shame bum could'nt have coached a team i was a fan of!i did,nt like the oilers but warren moon was awesome and earl campbell left it all on the field every time he suited up!!it's just that wades personality does'nt bode well in an environment where being a truly nice guy will be mistaken as a sign of weakness and his authority will be compromised!btw wade has never won a playoff game, has he?

  13. Well I disagree Parcells personality didn't bode well for the Cowboys during his time in Dallas which is why I think that players didn't want to play for him..while Phillips more layed back style of coaching is
more suited to what the team needs

which is to still be disciplined but not have the hard ass approach to it and I think that in the end will get us over the top
