Expecting Wade Phillips To Be Gone After Next Season? Not So Fast

So you say Wade Phillips job is in jeopardy? That after next season Wade Phillips is replaced by the understudy Jason Garret...who only stayed on because Jerry told him that after next season he is in Wade is out?

Hmm, sounds like a load of crap to me! Considering that Jerry, unlike Al Davis of the Raiders, doesn't hire then fire after one or two years. Then what do you call Chan Gailey's firing after his second season?

A mistake by a ego owner for one, meddling and two, not allowing Gailey longer to try and put pieces together to see if he could turn it win it all. This explains why Jerry had to learn two very hard lessons, which were that new coaches who are under puppet control aren't to blame for non success when the owner can't keep his hands off.

Dents aren't made after only two seasons.

Which is why when Dave Campo took over in 2000 as head coach, Jerry extended him more time to see where he could go with it. After three years of 5-11, Jones was left with no choice but to fire Campo and hire a real head coach

Forcing Jones to once again take his hands off the controls and stepping back away and let someone who could handle it, Handle it!!!

Ladies and gentleman I give you Bill Parcells!

So what does all this have to do with Wade Phillips and his possible removal from head coach to civiline after the 2008 season?

Simply this, Wade Phillips is not on the hot seat. Jones would be stupid to just bring in Garret who has no experience head coaching a team, allowing someone of Phillips' experience to walk out the door without first allowing him the same kinds of chances Jerry Jones extended his previous coaches.

I expect Phillips to be back for 2009 after that is up in the air but at least for now his job is safe. The rest is up to him.
