Strikeforce Predictions - Strikeforce and Rockstar Energy Drink present Strikeforce Miami - Live at Bank Atlantic Center on Saturday, January 30 at 7:30PM
Nick Diaz (20-7) -210 vs. Marius Zaromskis (13-3) +170
The main event features Nick Diaz taking on Lithuanian striker Marius Zaromskis for the vacant Strikeforce Welterweight title. Diaz RNC early in the third round, this is my dude, would love to see him fight Hieron next fight.
Melvin Manhoef (24-6-1) -200 vs. Robbie Lawler (16-5) +160
I love both fighter—both really Bang—Manhoef has made a career of breaking fighters early, his resume reads twenty 1st round stoppages; six in the sixty seconds of the fight. And besides getting beat up by Diaz, Lawler has always been a beast, should train more standup defense and take notes from BJ penn.
Manhoef has been knocked out before against solid strikers, and Lawler does have the punching power to floor Manhoef in this fight, however, if Manhoef bombs first which I figure him to, he'll win by first round KO.
Herschel Walker (0-0) -500 vs. Greg Nagy (1-1) +300
Impossible to find footage of Nagy, and i don't care if Herschel Walker is 47, if your of a certain age you know Herschel and you know that Greg Nagy is not on Herschel's level. Vegas can't be this wrong and neither can I, Walker is a safe bet.
Jay Hieron (18-4) -325 vs. Joe Riggs (32-10) +250
Riggs aggressive fight style could certainly be exploited by Hieron, even though Hieron tends to be a conservative fighter. Jay also will need to watch out for Riggs big shots and low kicks.
While this could end early, Hieron has enough to with a clear decision with his strong top control and accurate striking, sending a message to the winner of the Main event who is sure to fight the winner of this fight according to Coker.
Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos -600 vs Marloes Coenen +400
Champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos will defend her title for the first time against Dutch kickboxer and grappler Marloes Coenen. Santos is possibly the most dominant female fighter in the sport's history, however Coenen brings years of experience and a strong will to win into this match, but that won't matter, this match likely won't last long, don't blink.
Bobby lashley is also fighting Wes Sims —Don't understand the matchup, doesn't really make sense as far as a style matchup or a title contintion fight. It's more like a ratings booster, (a la Kimbo/Petruzilli) advertising Wes from his TUF appearance and UFC stint and Lashley's WWE history and freakishly built frame. I think Lashley is going to win but I wouldn't put it past Wes to pull a Frank Mir toe lock if the opportunity arrises.
Ill enjoy these free fights and check back in to see how my predictions went—so far 4-0 MMA picks, hopefully this year will end in the green...Strikeforce and Rockstar Energy Drink—Strikeforce Miami—Live at Bank Atlantic Center on Saturday, January 30 at 7:30PM
