Dallas Cowboys: Website Says Wade Phillips Gets Extension, Then Doesn't
The Dallas Cowboys are claiming that no deal to extend the contract of current head coach, Wade Phillips, despite their own website reporting just that.
The website issued a report, stating that the Cowboys had agreed to a three-year extension with Phillips, who guided the Cowboys to their first playoff victory this season in 13 years.
So, now what?

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
In all honesty, this is just some news that got leaked, the website put it out there, and then the head honchos in Dallas retracted it, because they aren't ready to let it be known just yet.
Phillips has led Dallas to three straight winning seasons, including two division titles, and two seasons of 11-5 or better, including a trip to the divisional round of the playoffs for the second time in three seasons.
And he's about to get signed on for three more cracks at making this Dallas team one to be reckoned with.
Despite the team "taking back" what was said on the site, you can relax, because the extension will still be happening. There aren't any sources or facts to back this. I'm just telling you, flat out, that it's going to happen.
Why so many have been (and still are) calling for Phillips' head is beyond me, because all the coach has done is put a winning product on the table, while helping his defense improve to become one of the most feared in the league.
Phillips, who also serves as the team's defensive coordinator, helped guide the Cowboys defense to a second place finish in points allowed (15.6 per game), while finishing the regular season ranked fourth against the run, and ninth overall.
Dallas struggled all season long with it's pass defense (20th), and displayed this flaw while being carved up by Brett Favre and the Minnesota Vikings in their 34-3 loss last Sunday.
That, combined with a "one-and-done" performance against the New York Giants in 2007, after going 13-3 and winning their division, is why some Cowboys fans have had about enough of Phillips.
But they should be counting their blessings.
Phillips has helped this team grow from an offense that relied on a prima dona receiver (Terrell Owens), while also playing a key part in bringing the team together and boosting the chemistry.
While a lot of the offensive success will be credited to offensive coordinator, Jason Garrett (as it probably should), Phillips has also had a hand in the progression of Tony Romo and the running game (which finished seventh).
The fact is, the Cowboys got the monkey off their back, they displayed a dominant ability to get to the quarterback down the stretch, and they delivered some convincing performances until laying down on the road against a better Minnesota Vikings team.
So, is Wade Phillips worthy of getting a contract extension? Definitely. He just hasn't officially gotten it yet.
