Baltimore Ravens a History In Stupid Decisions.
Baltimore Ravens- (Original Cleveland Browns) have made key decisions to build what the team we have today, but lets see what stupid decisions that cause this to flop like they have since they won their first super bowl from 2000 yes its been about ten years give or take. Now, lets start off in the STUPID decision in where the Baltimore Ravens decided to release Veteran Quarterback Vinny Testaverde in the year 1997/1998 where the Baltimore Ravens decided to release him where he went on to play for the New York Jets from 1998-2003 in that time span he reach the AFC Championship in 1998 with the New York Jets lost to the Denver Broncos who ended up winning the Super Bowl that season but later in this stint with New York Jets he lead them back in the play-offs in 2001.
Now, My case is very reasonable what "If" the Baltimore Ravens kept Vinny Testaverde when they hired Brian Billick they would've won a Super Bowl title 1999 & 2000 that is what I truly believe what would've happened because by 1999 that defense was getting solid and they had okay offensive weapons, Vinny Testaverde was a very productive quarterback in his prime and at that moment he would've won two Super Bowl titles for the Baltimore Ravens and would've rode into the sunset as a hero.

But lets go back when they released him from the Baltimore Ravens they finished with a record of 6-10 where they decided to either fire/release First Franchise Head Coach Ted Marchibroda I don't really remember but his total record with the Baltimore Ravens 16-31-1 as the Ravens Head Coach. Remember in 1997 the Ravens record was 6-9-1 I had a feeling if they kept Vinny Testaverde they would've have finished the season 7-9 or 8-8 that year if they did that.
I will fast forward to the Year Brian Billick was hired to the Baltimore Ravens and they won the Super Bowl for the first time, they signed free-agent Quarterback Trent Dilfer and he lead that offense with the help of the defense to their first Super Bowl victory in franchise history, Now after they won the Super Bowl they made STUPID decision two. They released Quarterback Trent Dilfer after winning a Super Bowl and decided to sign Elvis Grbac as there new Starting Quarterback.
Okay, first before people decide to toss rocks at me let me clear the air here and explain the why this was so stupid. You had a solid Quarterback in Trent Dilfer where the offense was comfortable with therefore you had away to address this and make the right moves with your wide receivers at this time was Brandon Stokely and Qadry Ismail with the help of a rookie tight end Todd Heap for that next season. Would also granted us another Super Bowl title but no they decided to end that hope.
The Biggest mistake was also letting Brandon Stokely and Qadry Ismail leave Baltimore Ravens that I also call a STUPID decision. Baltimore Ravens decided to keep those Wide outs I know there offense now would be more powerful than what we have seen don't get me wrong Derrick Mason has been great part of that new offense but how long can the man carry the wide receivers corp of Baltimore on his back.
Scenario for you to think of, Baltimore decided to keep Brandon Stokely & Qadry Ismail release and never drafted Wide outs picked up Derrick Mason still and if they did draft only draft Mark Clayton than this trio of veterans with a little on developing of the rookie would've look way better for the Ravens now.
Realization is that Qadry would've retired by the time Joe Flacco got drafted and this offense would've just been build in time for Joe Flacco or Troy Smith to be honest to helm it.
Coaching on the other hand was very tricky for me to breakdown on the head coaching part for awhile see when they hired good old Ted to helm this franchise they most likely did it to break some ground with the people of Baltimore who may remember him when he coached the Baltimore Colts.
When they fired Coach Brian Billick after 9 seasons who had a record of 85-67-0 as the longest head coach in Baltimore Ravens history was a tough bullet for me to bite because I felt he could turned the around if he had the right players. But otherwise they fired him and after that they interview Defensive Coordinator Rex Ryan and decided not to give him the head coaching job. NOW this is where I get a little pissed, I believed if Rex Ryan got the shot to be Head Coach of the Baltimore Ravens they would've won another super bowl nothing against John Harbaugh who I believe has done a great job so far with a record of 23-14 as there Head Coach but Rex Ryan would've done better but that is more of a personal thing therefore this was NOT a stupid decision.
Now, the final STUPID decision in Baltimore Ravens history was Defensive Coordinator position was when John Harbaugh decided to let Rex Ryan go and become the Head Coach of the New York Jets and followed the foot steps of former Brian Billick goons such as Marvin Lewis- (Head Coach of the Cincinnati Bengals-2003- Now), Jack Del Rio- (Head Coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars- 2003-present) and Mike Nolan- (Was Head Coach of the San Francisco 49ers-2005-2008). So what did they do promote someone from the same Defensive System Nope they promoted Greg Mattison who never was a defensive coordinator in NFL and was a former assistant of his father, Jack and Brother Jim in college football.
Now, the stupid decisions can be stopped if they hired something from the defensive system staff from 1999-2008 if not this team is on a downward spiral and no one would be able to save them.
Therefore, I leave you guys with the thoughts of "What If" and answer the most important question of them all can the Baltimore Ravens return to the Super Bowl.
