5 Reasons You Cant Blame Troy Polomalu For The Lack Of Steelers Success

Melvin HallJan 6, 2010

The Pittsburgh Steelers failed to make the playoffs for the second consecutive time after winning a Super Bowl, and blogs sites all over the world is tired of crying Steelers fans saying the same thing over and over again, " If We Had Polomalu" so I composed a list of reasons why you can't guarantee a playoff spot if Troy Polomalu would have been playing:

1. The Pittsburgh Steelers had one of the easiest schedules in NFL history: The Steelers could have guaranteed six wins just by looking at their schedule, the Lions, Bears, Chiefs, Raiders, and the Browns twice. Out of those six games the Steelers went 2-4 with 3 of those teams (Chiefs, Raiders, and Browns.) beat them in the heart of the playoff run. Now really Steelers Fans did you guys really need Troy Polomalu to beat teams who was battling for the top pick of the draft?

2. James Harrison, Lamar Woodley, Lawrence Timmons, James Farrior, Casey Hampton Ike Taylor, and Ryan Clark: With those caliber athletes on your defense you Steelers Fans really want us to believe that Troy Polomalu was a whole defense by his lonesome, no guys we are football fans not idiots.

3. Mike Tomlin heated press conference after a lost to the Kansas City Chiefs: The Head Coach of the Steelers Mike Tomlin came in a press conference and told the Media that his team would unleash hell in December because they have to. After that statement they had consecutive losses to the Ravens and the Browns. Did Tomlin not know Troy Polamalu wouldn't be ready for those games?

4. Ben Roethlisberger off seasons distractions: Once again after a great season and a Super Bowl win the Steelers players and coaches open training camp answering questions about their starting quarterback off the field issues. After Super Bowl 41 Roethlisberger was injured after winning Super Bowl MVP by jumping on a motorcycle without a helmet, and after throwing the game winning pass in Super Bowl 43 he was involved in a sexual assault lawsuit, so really Steelers fans I don't remember any of Troy Polomalu off the field issues coming into this season.

5. The Pittsburgh Steelers failed to make the playoffs after their last Super Bowl win: There has only been 6 times in NFL history that a team has won a Super Bowl and did not make the playoffs and it is not surprising that the Steelers is the only team to make this list twice. There is a combination of reasons for the Steelers to make this list twice but none no greater than their cocky attitude. From Mike Tomlin on the sidelines with his designer shades and his fresh razor line and goatee, to Lamar Woodley ridiculous suggestion that the Cincinnati Bengals would lay down and let a team win because they are afraid of the Pittsburgh Steelers, take it they lost to the Bengals twice. Troy Polomalu is a well-mannered guy who is respectedย  throughout the NFL, he really don't fit the Steelers criteria so letโ€™s not blame him for the lack of Steelers success
