The Broncos (8-4) are coming into this game on a 2-game winning streak after they previously on a 4 game losing streak. The Broncos are trying to keep pace with the Chargers, who are 9-3 leading the division by 1 game over the Broncos. The Broncos are trying to extend their win streak to 3 games. The Colts (12-0) heading into this game undefeated and trying to stay unbeaten with a win. The Colts also would clinch home-field advantage throughout the playoffs with a win over the Broncos. The Colts are coming off of a 27-17 win over the Titans that were on a 5 game win streak. Manning looks to lead the Colts over the Broncos and seal home field advantage throughout the playoffs. Manning is also trying to lead the Colts to a 22 regular season game winning streak!
1st Quarter: The Colts came out of game fired up; on the Colts first drive of the game, Manning drove the Colts down the field easily; he was 8/10 for 76yds, and a 5yd TD to Austin Collie to put the Colts up 7. Pierre Garcon made some good contributions on the drive as well; he had 39 receiving yds on the drive as well. Manning got the ball back and he and addai led them down the field; addai had 35 total yds on the drive and Manning had 35 passing yds and finished the drive with a 10yd TD pass to Dallas clark to put the Colts up 14. Denver started a good drive when Kyle Orton threw a 19 yd pass to Brandon Marshall. The drive wouldn't end before the 1st quarter would. At the end of the 1st quarter the Colts would lead the Broncos by 14. The Broncos only had 63 total yds at the end of the quarter.
2nd Quarter: The Broncos would continue their drive that they started in the 1st quarter, but were unable to score and had to punt. Peyton Manning would lead the Colts down the field by passing for 33yds including a 22yd pass to Dallas Clark and he finished the drive when he hooked up with Clark for a 1 yd TD pass. Denver also committed a 15yd penalty on the drive to help the Colts. Kyle Orton would drive the Broncos down the field by passing for 67yds and finished the drive with a 5yd TD pass to Brandon Marshall, who had 36 receiving yds as well on the drive. No team would score again in the quarter, the Colts tried, but turned the ball over and the Broncos as well, but they weren't able to score as well. The Colts would lead the Broncos 21-7 at the half. Marshall had 10 catches for 109 yds, TD at the half.
3rd Quarter: Manning didn't play well in the 3rd quarter; in 2 of the Colts 4 drives in the quarter, Manning threw a interception. Despite the turnovers, the Broncos failed to score in the quarter due to the excellent play of the Colts defense.
4th quarter: The Broncos rallied a bit when Orton led the Broncos down the field by throwing for 59yds and hooking up with Marshall for a 5yd TD pass. Marshall had 39 receiving yds and a Td on the drive. With the score, the Broncos trimmed the lead to 5 pts. It could have been 3, but the Broncos failed a 2-pt conversion. Manning and the Colts would respond when they 14 play drive for 80yds and drained over 7 minutes off the clock. Manning passed for 55yds including a 23yd pass to Austin Collie and a 20 yd pass to Reggie Wayne. Manning finished the drive by throwing his 4th Td pass to D. Clark for a 1yd TD pass. This Td was Clark's 3rd TD catch of the game to put the Colts up 28-17. The Colts wouldn't allow the Broncos to score again and win the game 28-17. Marshall had a great game; he had 21 catches for 200yds and 2Tds. Manning did throw 3 picks, but he also threw 4Tds in the win. The Colts got the NFL record for the most consecutive regular season wins at 22 and they clinched home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
