Since I am from Southern California, this article is being written for the Charger fans, but it can apply to all "Fair Weathered Fans"

I hate that I have to deal with the constant verbal abuses I have to deal with from Charger Fans.  However, the Raiders do suck right now and it's the nature of the beast and apart of the joy of football.  But that isn't even why it bugs me.  Most of these people that talk all this smack about the Raiders don't even know who Nick Hardwick is, or think that LT is still the best back in the league or if they do realize LT is slipping, they think Sproles can be the next Barry Sanders.

What's my point?  The vast majority of Charger Fans have started supporting them because they are winning consistently for the first time in their history.  They are the definition of Bandwagon Fans.  Obviously this is not true of all their fans, however a vast majority have started supporting only in the last five years.  When they started their rise, I was living in San Diego.  I could see mid season all the new banners in front of houses going up and all the brand new stickers on cars.

What happened when they lost to the Jets by a field goal that year in the playoffs, all the evidence of The Chargers started disappearing until the next season when they started doing good again.

Now honestly I am not here to bash Charger Fans, the rivalry and competition is what makes being a fan fun.  I am asking the True Charger fans to show the fakes what being a real fan is all about.  Show them how to make being a fan of your team is a way of life, not a past time.

So what is the sign of a true fan?  When you see the Raider Nation, everywhere you go, even now when our team sucks.  Flags flying, stickers cracking on our cars from old age, and proudly displaying our tattoos, that is a sign of a true fan.  SOMEONE WHO SUPPORTS THEIR TEAM IN THE GOOD AND BAD TIMES!!!
