They could go all the way.
Not since 1972 with Dan Marino and his Miami Dolphins has there been any team in the NFL with a perfect season. In 2007 the New England Patriots were set to change that. Tom Brady and his brilliant team went almost all the way finishing the regular season right along with the 1972 Dolphins.
With the scandals that surrounded the team this season, it seemed as though nothing could stop them. The 16-0 team was going for their 4th Super Bowl win. Not even Manning and the Colts stood a chance.
Finishing the regular season undefeated was an awesome feeling, like a fairy tale, not only for the team but for the die hard fans, such as myself.
In the postseason they played better than they had all year.
Feb 2nd, 2008 was the date of the biggest game of their lives.
- B/R Ticket Guide
Leading the game the entire time Brady and the Patriots seemed unstoppable. In the second half play got sloppy by the Patriots. They started slowing down, losing steam. They seemed like they knew they had it in the bag and were just playing, not thinking that the Giants could come back.
The fourth quarter changed it all: Eli Manning and his Giants were coming back and stronger then ever. The underdog team was inching up on the undefeated and it was showing.
With just minutes left, three heroes of the game, David Tyree, Plaxico Burress and Eli Manning managed to some how pull of to me, the greatest upset in sports. It seems funny $that the three heroes are from New York, just like a good Marvel comic.
The fairy tale season came to an unhappily ever loss 14-17 in the end. New England did almost everything those 1972 Dolphins did, except win it all.
Baby Manning and the Giants played their hearts out. They had their whole heart in it the whole time, even when times looked roughed.
It was a tough loss for us fans, but I realize that everything happens for a reason and whether it be "karma" for the spy-gate issue, or whatever the case may be, they still are the best team in the NFL and one of only two teams to be undefeated.
Now we just have to sit back and relax and wait until the upcoming season, to see what we have in store.
I still am a fan and will always be even if they are 1-15 next season.

For a "diehard" Patriots fan, you don't seem to remember the 2007 season very well.
First of all, the Patriots did not play better in the postseason than they did during the regular season. They actually played worse and that's not even including the Super Bowl.
Secondly, the Patriots did not have the lead the entire game. The Giants scored the first points of the game and the last and the lead changed 3 times during the 4th quarter.
Finally, the Patriots supposedly sloppy play didn't begin in the second half unless you want to ignore the 3 first half sacks and the forced fumble. Also, Brady only attempted 14 passes in the first half, completing 8. He attempted 34 passes in the second half, completing 21.
As for what's in store for the Patriots in 2008, I don't see why they won't be winning their division again this year considering they play in the absolute worst division in the entire league. As last year, they will have the easiest road to travel yet again.

Yah, have to agree that their playoff performance....as well as their last few regular season games saw a worse performance than how they did the first 12 games

You know that Dan Marino was drafted in '83 right.

I just wanted to say thank you for the comments. This was my first write and I am a nervous writer I make millions of mistakes. I even managed to screw up my own life story for a paper I had to write for class. I feel so dumb after writing this I wish I could just delete it and start over. I feel that because of this no one is ever going to want to read anything I write ever again. I will be more prepared next time. This was a last minute write and was very rushed.
