Fantasy DC's Week Eight: Buy/Sell Report

FantasyDCCorrespondent IOctober 27, 2009

(Look for FantasyDC's Waiver Rush and NFC Team Notes out today and tomorrow respectively.)

Shonn Greene, NYJ, RB

Jon Dove: Buy

The Jets are going to continue to run the ball. Mark Sanchez’s struggles will force the ball into the hands of the running backs. Thomas Jones is aging and will need a lot of rest, so expect a lot of touches for Greene.

Billy Smith: Buy (only if you had Leon Washington)

I like Greene and thought he was great at Iowa. However, Jones is probably going to pick up more carries, and Greene might only get 8-10 touches a game.

Alex Smith, SF, QB

Jon Dove: Sell

Smith had a good game last week, but I will need to see a few more productive weeks before I move on Smith. However, the 49ers have more offensive weapons than people think, and it looks like Michael Crabtree will have an impact right away.

Billy Smith: Sell Hard

He has a nice game against Houston. However, that is the best game he has ever played as a professional. If you are in need of a quarterback and Smith is the best option out there, it is probably best that you trade your best players and start scouting prospects for fantasy baseball.

Ryan Grant, GB, RB

Jon Dove: Buy

I like the fact that Grant gets the majority of the carries and that teams need to fear the passing attack. Grant is also the short yardage/goal line back, so he will not have touchdowns taken away.

Billy Smith: Buy

Grant has proven to be a decent No. 2 fantasy back. This season he is quietly averaging 82 yards per game rushing and a little over 17 receiving. It would be nice if he had more touchdowns, but still Grant is worth a flier.

Mike Wallace, PIT, WR

Jon Dove: Sell

Ben Roethlisberger spreads the ball around too much for me to buy Wallace. There are also a lot of options, and it seems like the Steelers will be running the ball a lot more with the emergence of Rashard Mendenhall.

Billy Smith: Buy

Wallace is learning the offense and is only getting better. He would be a good fill-in if you need one.

David Clowney, NYJ, WR

Jon Dove: Sell

I don’t think that any Jet receivers are a great fantasy option. Sanchez will continue to improve, but the main focus for that offense will be running the ball. The one thing that Clowney may have going for him is the fact that Braylon Edwards may be suspended and both Brad Smith and Jerricho Cotchery are injured.

Billy Smith: Sell

He only has eight catches on the year, and Sanchez has several other options to go to before Clowney is getting the ball.

Eli Manning, NYG, QB

Jon Dove: Buy

Manning is going to rebound from these last two games. He is a very consistent performer, and you might be able to get him at a discount. I wouldn't sell the farm, but I would move a decent player to acquire Manning.

Billy Smith: Sell

I think his foot injury is more of a problem than people originally thought. He doesn’t look sharp. He is going to have to rest or find a way to play with the injury, or the Giants are in trouble. Some of his throws Sunday were way off the mark for a guy with pretty good accuracy.
