Dana White: UFC Working on Georges St-Pierre vs. Nate Diaz Fight
UFC President Dana White said Tuesday that he is working toward booking a fight between Georges St-Pierre and Nate Diaz.
On the UFC Unfiltered Podcast (h/t FloCombat), White said the following regarding the potential bout: "We are working right now to try to put together a Georges St-Pierre vs. Nate Diaz fight. It is true, and they would fight at 155 lbs."
White also provided a possible date for the fight, saying, "It might be [Aug. 4 in] L.A. In my perfect world ... [T.J.] Dillashaw vs. [Cody] Garbrandt, GSP vs. Diaz would be the co-main, [Alexander] Gustafsson vs. [Luke] Rockhold, and [Derek] Brunson vs. Antonio Carlos Junior."
The Aug. 4 event is UFC 227, and it will be held at Los Angeles' Staples Center. Dillashaw and Garbrandt are currently scheduled to headline the card.
St-Pierre returned to the UFC last year after a four-year hiatus and beat Michael Bisping at UFC 217 to win the UFC middleweight championship.
The 36-year-old Canadian later vacated the title due to ulcerative colitis.
Diaz hasn't fought since dropping a majority decision to Conor McGregor at UFC 202 in 2016. Diaz beat McGregor in their previous meeting by submission at UFC 196.
The 33-year-old Diaz was fined and suspended by the UFC after a press conference brawl with McGregor leading up to their UFC 202 clash.
St-Pierre has a sparkling professional record of 26-2, while Diaz is 19-11.
