WWE Rumors: Buying or Selling Buzz on Triple H, Nia Jax and More

Erik BeastonFeb 14, 2018

Could there be a major power shift coming in WWE?

If this week's WWE rumor mill proves accurate, the answer would be a resounding "yes."

Triple H may be ready to assume his position as the top dog in WWE, but that does not mean plans for the upcoming WrestleMania have changed, as the rumor mill tells us in regard to Nia Jax and her role at The Showcase of the Immortals.

A Shift in Power?

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Cageside Seats), there is a belief among those backstage that Triple H is about to assume more power within WWE.

"It's noted 'the feeling' is Triple H is going to get more power within WWE due to the XFL starting up again and he's been starting to put a team in place for NXT, which helps explain the Jeremy Borash hiring."

If accurate, the move would be one years in the making, as documented as far back as the 2013 WWE Home Video release Triple H: Thy Kingdom Come.

Buy or Sell?

Buy. How can you not? Triple H's work with NXT has helped that brand become, arguably, the most consistently great product in all of WWE. His ability to use old-school storytelling techniques with modern talents and styles to create a wholly engaging wrestling show has earned him the praise of fans and analysts alike.

According to PWInsider.com (h/t Wrestling Inc), Triple H recently took over 205 Live, and almost immediately that show received an injection of energy and excitement that had long been lacking. If he could replicate his success with NXT on the main roster, not only would the WWE product improve in overall quality but also the Superstars within would be better utilized to their strengths.

Nia Jax's WrestleMania Plans

Nia Jax is conspicuous in her absence in the first-ever women's Elimination Chamber. Instead, she will battle Asuka in singles competition, trying to become the first woman to defeat The Empress of Tomorrow in WWE. According to the Wrestling Observer (h/t Cageside Seats), there is good reason for the booking decision.

"Mickie James was a replacement for Nia Jax in the women's Elimination Chamber match and the plan is still for Jax to wrestle Bliss for the title at WrestleMania."

The choice would seemingly protect Jax, saving her from a championship defeat prior to her career moment at WrestleMania.

Buy or Sell?

Buy. Yes, the likelihood that Jax knocks Asuka off before WrestleMania is nearly nonexistent, but considering the fact it seems there are plans for her to headline the Raw women's division, battling Alexa Bliss gives fans a sense of hope that both Raw's and SmackDown's women's titles will be up for grabs in high-profile matches, with actual wrestlers battling for the gold rather than an inexperienced Ronda Rousey.

Jax and Bliss have natural chemistry developed from their real-life friendship. They also have history together on the show, dating back to Bliss' growing jealousy over Jax's teased romantic relationship with the now-released Enzo Amore.

All things considered, it is the right move for this WrestleMania.

John Cena vs. Undertaker Is Still On

The February 12 episode of Raw kicked off with a John Cena promo that put over the significance of earning a match at WrestleMania and managed to pique the interest of the audience. That promo, as Randall Ortman of Cageside Seats reports, was intended to set up a match between the franchise and WWE's greatest phenom.

"The speculation is that John Cena's promo on Monday Night Raw this week was definitely a reference to Undertaker and we're still headed for that match at WrestleMania 34."

Cena is quoted as saying, "WrestleMania can bring a legend back from the dead."

Buy or Sell?

Buy. The hype for the long-awaited Cena vs. Undertaker match has gotten to the point that if the two do not compete at WrestleMania this year, the disappointment may wind up killing any anticipation for their eventual showdown.

From the moment Cena returned on Christmas night, and Undertaker appeared at Raw 25, fans have expected the Superstars will find their way together for a match on wrestling's greatest stage.

Though it would have meant more four years ago, before Brock Lesnar obliterated The Deadman's undefeated streak, it is still among the last great, big-money matches WWE has at its disposal. Given Undertaker's recent health issues, it is now or never for the iconic bout to occur.
