Frank Mason Heel Injury Revealed as Torn Plantar Fascia; out 4-6 Weeks
Sacramento Kings guard Frank Mason will miss at least two more weeks after an MRI revealed a partial tear of the right plantar fascia, the team announced.
Mason, 23, went down in a Dec. 31 game against the Memphis Grizzlies. The team said his injury would be evaluated four to six weeks from the date of the original injury.
Taken with the No. 34 overall pick in last year's draft, Mason was the 2017 national collegiate Player of the Year at Kansas. He leapt up draft boards thanks to his combination of shot-making beyond the arc and distribution skills, overcoming some concerns about his size to become a borderline first-rounder.

Mason promised the Kings "won't regret" taking him after being selected, and he's gone about proving that assessment correct. After a strong summer league, Mason is now averaging 7.6 points and 2.9 assists per game.
De'Aaron Fox and George Hill have been taking a majority of the minutes at point guard already, so it's unlikely his absence will cause all that much harm.
