PSG Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Neymar and Serge Aurier

James DudkoJul 30, 2017

Dani Alves has urged fellow Brazilian Neymar to be brave and selfish as he considers leaving Barcelona amid links to Paris Saint-Germain, despite La Liga president Javier Tebas promising to report the Ligue 1 side to UEFA if a deal goes through.

Tebas thinks PSG paying Neymar's €200 million release clause would be a violation of financial fair play rules. He has promised to make a complaint to European football's governing body if PSG activate the clause, per Kaveh Solhekol of Sky Sports News.

Tebas is even prepared to take the issue further if necessary, per the report: "If UEFA ignore their complaint, they will pursue their case through the relevant courts in Spain, France and Switzerland and through the EU in Brussels."

Yet despite the threat from Spain, former Barca right-back Alves has called on Neymar to join him in the French capital.

Alves moved to Paris from Juventus earlier this summer and urged Neymar to consider his decision carefully, per ESPN FC's Jonathan Johnson: "I hope that he will join PSG. He is one of my best friends and I always want my friends alongside me."

The 34-year-old right-back also revealed his role in Neymar switching from Santos to Barca: "I helped him decide to come to Barcelona. I did not take the decision for him, I just told him what he would have at Barca and he decided to come. Decisions are for the brave."

Alves stopped short of calling directly for Neymar to choose PSG over Barcelona, but he did emphasise how the striker needs to put himself first: "You have to be selfish sometimes because clubs do not think about you unless you give them results. I say one thing to him and that is to be brave."

Being selfish in this context could mean Neymar forcing through a move away from the Camp Nou. It would be a transfer sure to stretch the resources of a club even as rich as PSG.

Even so, football lawyer Daniel Geey believes PSG could spread the cost, per Mark Crellin of Sky Sports: "The way that accounting principles work is that usually, instead of the 200 million [euros] being a cost against one year, it is spread over the length of the deal. So, depending on how long the deal is, let's just say it is five years, the cost for that first year and every subsequent year would be 40 million [euros]."

Barca's new manager is still waiting on the South American to make a decision.

At the moment, Barca remain in a state of limbo regarding Neymar's immediate future. New manager Ernesto Valverde believes the prolific 25-year-old will stay but admitted he is waiting to find out for sure, according to Joe Short of the Sunday Express.

Alves' arrival may not just impact Les Parisiens' desire to sign Neymar; it could also spell the end of Serge Aurier's PSG career.

The Ivory Coast full-back is wanted by both Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur, per French source Le Parisien (h/t Football Italia). Aurier will cost €25 million, according to the reports, which could delay any deal.

Aurier has struggled during his time in Paris but still has the core talent to be a success for any of Europe's top clubs. The 24-year-old offers terrific pace and deadly delivery from the flank. He is also a useful defender who is underrated in the air.

Aurier can operate at full-back on either side, as well as being able to slot into the middle if needed. Yet for all his versatility, he will be forced out by Alves.

The latter scored on his debut to help PSG beat AS Monaco 2-1 in the Trophee des Champions on Saturday, per BBC Sport. It's a further indication he is set to be manager Unai Emery's first choice.

Aurier would be best-served moving on, while Neymar will remain a star whether he stays at Barca or arrives at the Parc des Princes this summer.
