Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Nemanja Matic and Renato Sanches

Chelsea could be about to capture Bayern Munich's Renato Sanches, with Nemanja Matic expected to join Manchester United imminently.

According to James Ducker of the Telegraph (h/t Alex Wood of the Daily Star), Matic is having a medical with United, with the Red Devils expected to announce the deal in the coming days.

Ducker tweeted:

Matic's departure would leave a hole in Chelsea's squad, and it could be filled by Sanches as he searches for first-team football.

Per Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (h/t the Daily Star's James Walters), Blues manager Antonio Conte is ready to match Bayern's terms, allowing the Portugal international to move to Stamford Bridge in a one-year loan deal.

The 19-year-old was rated previously as one of the top youngsters in the game but failed to make an impact after joining the Bundesliga champions 12 months ago.

Sanches featured for Portugal as they won Euro 2016, but he is now desperate for games after spending a year primarily as a substitute.

The player started just six games in the German top flight last term but came off the bench 11 times, per WhoScored.com.

Matic's expected departure leaves Conte with a headache, as the defensive midfielder was a vital member of the team that won the Premier League last season.

The 28-year-old played 35 games in the league last season, per WhoScored.com, and the champions must bring in a new midfielder to cover his expected positional loss.

According to Simon Stone of BBC Sport, United will pay around £40 million for the Serbia international, as Matic is reunited with former coach Jose Mourinho.

Tiemoue Bakayoko's arrival from AS Monaco will add strength to the core of the side, but his lack of Premier League experience could be pivotal in his first season at Stamford Bridge.

Sanches would allow Conte to spread the load, but the combination would need time to bed in alongside N'Golo Kante.

At 22, Bakayoko could develop into a world-class player, but he has suffered blips in form during his time in Ligue 1.
