Barcelona Transfer News: Philippe Coutinho Blow, Latest Denis Suarez Rumours

Matt JonesJul 28, 2017

Barcelona are reportedly concerned that Liverpool will make it "impossible" for them to sign Philippe Coutinho in the summer window.

According to Moises Llorens of AS, while there is speculation gathering pace that Neymar is on his way to Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona are carrying on with independent recruitment plans that include Coutinho.

But according to a source quoted by Llorens, the Reds will make it "practically impossible" to land the Brazilian.

As noted by the initial source, some reports have suggested Coutinho is keen to move to the Camp Nou and has agreed terms with the Catalan giants. However, Llorens suggested those stories may well be "hot air" at this point.

Sport have previously reported that Liverpool value their creator-in-chief at €150 million:

While Coutinho wouldn't be a direct replacement for his compatriot should he make the move to PSG, he'd be a tremendous addition at the Camp Nou.

Since arriving at Liverpool, the Brazilian has gone from strength to strength and now he's rated as one of the very best attacking midfielders in football. Coutinho can take the ball in tight spaces, dribble past opponents and is adept at shooting from long range.

It's why the Reds will reportedly make things so difficult for Barcelona. According to journalist Guillem Balague, the Blaugrana will only chase Coutinho should Neymar depart:

If PSG were to meet Neymar's €222 million buyout clause, Barcelona would have the cash to test the resolve of Liverpool. And it'd be understandable if the player was keen to move to operate alongside the likes of Lionel Messi and former Reds star Luis Suarez.

Still, with a long-term contract signed earlier in the year and with Coutinho seemingly content working under Jurgen Klopp at Anfield, it'd be a massive surprise if Liverpool were open to any kind of negotiations.

Denis Suarez Linked with Valencia

According to Plaza Deportiva (h/t Football Espana), Valencia are eyeing a possible move for Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez.

It's suggested in the piece Los Che boss Marcelino is a fan of the 23-year-old, who struggled to secure regular football last season after returning to the Camp Nou. Suarez started just 12 games in La Liga and failed to show his best form on a consistent basis.

Valencia may reportedly have to wait to get their man, though. In the report it's stated that Barcelona will seek to resolve the futures of Neymar and Arda Turan before making a decision on Suarez.

As noted by Scouted Football's Twitter feed, when the midfielder was given a chance to show what he can do at the summer's UEFA Under-21 European Championship, he was impressive:

Suarez is in his second spell at the Camp Nou, having joined in the summer of 2016 after impressing for Villarreal. His versatility, technical quality and incisive passing made him a major asset for the Yellow Submarine, with Marcelino, then of Villarreal, getting the best from him.

A move to work under his old boss and to a team where he would get regular football would be tempting for Suarez at this stage of his career. But Barcelona look to have plenty on their plate as things stand, so the midfielder may have to wait until late in the window before there is clarity over his position at the Camp Nou.
