Dante Fowler Says Car Had Been Stolen During Speeding Ticket Stop
When Dante Fowler was stopped by police for speeding July 15, he had a unique reason for why he couldn't show officers his registration documents.
According to TMZ, the Jacksonville Jaguars star told police he didn't have his registration on him because the car recently had been stolen and he just got it back the day before.
He said he had left the keys in it and someone took the car, but he got it back in time to pick up a speeding ticket.
"I just got my car back because it got stolen. So, I don't know where all my stuff is," he explained to the officer, per TMZ.
No arrests were made, but Fowler was reportedly given a citation for failing to show registration as well as a speeding ticket after being clocked going 62 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone, as the officer explained in the video.
The 22-year-old already made headlines this offseason when he was arrested for misdemeanor battery on July 18.
"At the end of the day, it could have went down a totally different way," Fowler said of the altercation that led to his arrest, per Michael DiRocco of ESPN. "I could have [taken] the right approach. I took the wrong approach, and I realize that I'm wrong for that. Like I said, it won't happen again."
While the defensive end was the No. 3 overall pick in 2015, his off-field incident remain a problem for Jacksonville.
