Manchester United Transfer News: Latest Nemanja Matic, Eric Dier Rumours
Manchester United will reportedly have to part with £50 million if they want to land Nemanja Matic from Chelsea this summer.
According to John Cross of the Daily Mirror, the Blues are happy to let the midfielder leave Stamford Bridge, with the Red Devils already having tabled a £35 million offer for the Serbian powerhouse.
Per the report, that won't be enough to secure the player's signature, with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich said to be ready to add what Cross calls a "Lukaku tax."

As Cross reported:
"The champions are still smarting at missing out on signing Everton striker Romelu Lukaku, after United snatched him earlier in the summer. And although Italian giants Juventus are also keen on Matic, and Chelsea would be willing to sell him to them for less than £50 million, the player is believed to have expressed a desire to go to Old Trafford."

Matic has had two spells at Chelsea, and his most recent one has been by far the most prosperous. The Serb has helped the Blues to two Premier League titles and been a colossal presence at the heart of the team.
Even so, Paul Hayward of the Daily Telegraph doesn't think the Red Devils would be wise to part with that kind of money for Matic:
United boss Jose Mourinho seems keen to stiffen up his midfield, though, and Matic is a player he knows well. His presence would allow the likes of Paul Pogba and Ander Herrera to move higher up the pitch too.
Still, even in this summer of inflated transfer fees, £50 million for a 28-year-old player is a serious amount of money to pay. Plenty will feel the Red Devils could find better value elsewhere as a result.
Eric Dier Still Keen on Red Devils

According to Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News, Tottenham Hotspur man Eric Dier remains keen on a move to Manchester United.
As Luckhurst reported, Spurs are adamant the 23-year-old utility player is not for sale this summer. Dier is said to want the move to go ahead but is unlikely to hand in a transfer request.
"Boyhood United supporter Dier grew up idolising Roy Keane and then Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand as he began his professional career as a centre-back," Luckhurst noted.
While there may be an affinity for the Old Trafford club, Dier is loved at Tottenham, having blossomed into one of Mauricio Pochettino's most important squad members. Alex Shaw of ESPN doesn't believe United should waste time pursuing the ex-Sporting CP man:
If the move were to go ahead, Dier wouldn't be one of the most glamorous acquisitions United have made in recent years. But he'd potentially be one of the most important.
Pochettino has helped Dier become a more thoughtful player, moving him into the centre of midfield during the 2015-16 season. From there, he's kicked on brilliantly, thriving in that position as well as in defence; he was especially impressive as part of a three-man back line at times last season.
Players like Dier are so valuable for teams involved in several competitions. It's why it would be a surprise to see Tottenham sanction his proposed switch to Old Trafford.
