Manchester United Transfer News: Toni Kroos and Zlatan Ibrahimovic Rumours
Manchester United could be willing to allow David De Gea to join Real Madrid if they receive Toni Kroos in return.
According to Spanish outlet Diario Gol (h/t Luke Gardener of the Daily Star), manager Jose Mourinho is open to the swap deal as he shuffles his midfield at Old Trafford. Kroos has excelled with Los Blancos, but De Gea has been a long-term target of the La Liga and UEFA Champions League holders. The German player is valued at £62 million, and the idea of an exchange could suit all parties.
However, Ander Herrera believes his Spain international team-mate will remain with him at the Theatre of Dreams, despite rumours of a switch to the Spanish capital.

Per Stuart Mathieson of the Manchester Evening News, Herrera has said he believes his friend will reject Real.
"I think De Gea will stay," said Herrera. "He's happy and I know this is going to sound repetitive because I always say the same but David is one of the few keepers who wins you points. I'm going to do everything I can to make sure he stays."
Kroos has grown in influence during his time in Spain, and the 27-year-old is at the peak of his powers in Madrid.
The player appeared in 41 games last season in La Liga and the Champions League, according to WhoScored.com, as Real cleaned up the silverware.

In other Red Devils news, Zlatan Ibrahimovic might not have played his last game for the club after departing with a serious injury.
Per Daniel Cutts of The Sun, the iconic Swede could pen a new contract after enrolling his sons into United's youth academy. The 35-year-old has continued his rehabilitation with United and could now sign a six-month deal when he is match fit.
Cutts wrote:
"The ex-PSG striker has now put sons Maximillian and Vincent back into the United set-up in a clear statement he wants to stay. The youngsters play in the same Under-10s team as Red Devils legends Ryan Giggs and Nicky Butt’s children. Jose Mourinho is keen to keep Ibrahimovic at the club, to help out new £75m forward Romelu Lukaku. He has also been coaching the younger players such as Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard with their finishing."

Ibrahimovic scored 22 goals in 39 appearances in the Premier League and UEFA Europa League last term, per WhoScored, as United won a European trophy in Mourinho's first year in charge.
The retention of Ibrahimovic makes perfect sense, and with his presence still at Carrington, making him part of the playing squad will help the team achieve honours.
Ibrahimovic was in phenomenal condition before his recent knee injury, and he could be the difference for the Red Devils at the business end of the campaign.
Kroos would be a stellar capture for United, and he is now undoubtedly one of the best midfielders on the planet.
He would combine beautifully with Paul Pogba and Herrera, giving United the best midfield selection in England.
