Sano has showcased impressive power since reaching the majors in 2015. He produced 43 home runs in 196 games over his first two seasons.
However, he has been even more impressive in 2017 and is on pace to hit almost 40 home runs.
Adding his .273 batting average and .920 on-base percentage entering Wednesday, and it's no wonder he was leading the All-Star voting among American League third baseman, per La Velle E. Neal III of the Star Tribune.
He will take on defending champion Giancarlo Stanton, who is the only other confirmed participant in the Home Run Derby at Marlins Park on July 10.
