Tottenham Transfer News: Pau Lopez Deadline Reportedly Set, Latest Spurs Rumours
Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have until the end of June to agree a permanent deal for goalkeeper Pau Lopez, or he will return to parent club Espanyol.
Per Tom Collomosse at Standard Sport, Spurs have an option to buy the goalkeeper, who was on loan last season, for €7 million (£6.2 million).
However, the clause runs out at the end of this month, and Espanyol chief executive Ramon Robert has confirmed Lopez will return to Spain if a deal is not completed.
"There is an option to buy until June 30, and if Tottenham do not pay it, he will be an Espanyol player," he said. "If he wants to finish his career here, we will all be very happy to have him."
Lopez has yet to make a senior first-team appearance for Spurs but is still highly rated by Mauricio Pochettino.
However, if he does head to Spurs on a permanent move, it seems likely he will remain as the club's third-choice option behind Hugo Lloris and deputy Michel Vorm.
Captain Lloris has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe during his time at White Hart Lane, and the club confirmed he had signed a new long-term deal back in December.
Vorm also extended his current deal at the end of last year and is now contracted to the north London side until next summer.
Elsewhere, Spurs have reportedly had a bid of €20 million rejected for Sporting midfielder Adrien Silva, per Jornal de Noticias (via Sport Witness).
Per the report, Sporting president Bruno de Carvalho wants €30 million, although Alasdair Gold, Tottenham correspondent for Football.London, has said such speculation is all "agent talk":
Former Spurs player Gylfi Sigurdsson has been linked with a return to White Hart Lane, per Richard Parry and Tom Collomosse of the Evening Standard. It comes after another impressive season for Swansea, where he finished the campaign with nine goals and 13 assists.
As relayed by Sky Sports News HQ, Swans' chairman Huw Jenkins has said the playmaker is "priceless" and the club have no intention of selling.
However, per BBC Sport, Pochettino has previously described Sigurdsson as "the perfect player for us," which suggests Tottenham retain an interest in the 27-year-old.
