Dustin Johnson Is 'Quite Sore' After Back Injury That Forced Him Out of Masters
After pulling out of the 2017 Masters Tournament because of a back injury, world No. 1 Dustin Johnson is feeling "quite sore," according to his agent, David Winkle.
According to ESPN.com's Bob Harig, Winkle also said Tuesday that Johnson is "improving by the day" and that his "range of motion is certainly better, but he is following the protocol and recommendations of his doctors and trainers."
Johnson slipped and fell on some stairs at his rental home the day before Thursday's opening round.

He intended to play through the pain but decided against it prior to his tee time due to an inability to complete his swing, per Bill Pennington and Karen Crouse of the New York Times:
"Standing next to the practice putting green, I still was expecting to give it [a] go. But even on the putting green, I was taking a few easy swings and my back was so tight. I was only swinging 80 percent and I couldn't get through the ball all the way. The backswing was fine but at impact and moving through, it hurt. I knew I wasn't going to be able to compete. It's terribly disappointing.
"
Per Harig, Winkle said Johnson is "seriously contemplating" playing the Wells Fargo Championship, which starts May 4, and will definitely take part in The Players Championship the following week.
The U.S Open is the next major and begins June 15.
