Russell Westbrook vs. Hawks: Stats, Highlights and Twitter Reaction
Oklahoma City Thunder star Russell Westbrook continues to tear through the NBA with some of the best numbers we have ever seen.
The Thunder beat the Atlanta Hawks on Monday, 102-99, thanks to yet another Westbrook triple-double, which featured 32 points, 12 assists and 13 rebounds:
| 32 | 12 | 13 | 1 | 1 | 10-22 | 3-8 | 9-14 |
ESPN Stats & Info broke down the streak he's on:
Not coincidentally, the Thunder are also on a six-game winning streak, which has helped them improve to 14-8 on the season.
J.A. Adande of ESPN joked that these types of performances have become commonplace:
Westbrook had a slow start to the game but solved that issue with 27 second-half points, including this unstoppable shot, via the team's official Twitter account:
When he wasn't scoring, he was filling up the stat sheet in other ways, as the Thunder's Twitter account demonstrated:
His third quarter was a show, as basketball writer Brad Rowland noted:
Westbrook had achieved his triple-double by the third quarter, something he has done quite a bit, as Royce Young of ESPN.com noted:
Many fans wonder what Westbrook will be able to do going forward. Chris Mannix of Yahoo Sports and Alex Kennedy of Basketball Insiders had conflicting thoughts:
As for an overall impression, Lang Whitaker of NBA.com summed it up pretty well:
No one has averaged a triple-double for a full season since Oscar Robertson in 1961-62, but Westbrook is going for it. More than a quarter of the way through the season, the 28-year-old was averaging 31.0 points, 11.3 assists and 10.8 rebounds per contest entering Monday's game, and he hasn't shown any signs of slowing down.
He will try to continue his streak when the Thunder take on the Houston Rockets at home Friday night.
