Latest on Howard's Recovery
Thursday, Dec. 1
Howard has not suited up in a game since Week 9 against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to the hip ailment. He tallied 23 combined tackles in 2016 as a rotational piece of Kansas City's defensive line.
Howard appeared in eight games, including five starts, before he hit the shelf, and his loss figures to hamper Kansas City's depth along the defensive line.
Although the Chiefs have a robust front anchored by defensive tackle Dontari Poe, they are now without Howard and Allen Bailey, who was placed on injured reserve after he suffered a torn pectoral in Week 6.
Now the onus will be on members of the Chiefs linebacking corps to pick up the slack. Justin Houston and Tamba Hali comprise one of the league's most dynamic one-two outside linebacking punches, while Derrick Johnson is a run-stuffing wrecking ball in the middle of the field.
