
Bruce Arians: Latest on Cardinals Coach's Recovery from Illness and Future
Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians was hospitalized on Nov. 20 and underwent tests after experiencing chest pains, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN and Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
The Cardinals announced Arians was released from the hospital the evening of Nov. 21 and returned home. However, Arians' future on the sidelines following the season has been called into question.

Sunday, Dec. 4
"Arians has endured two health scares this season, and after contemplating retirement a few years ago, some in the coaching community expect him to do the same again this winter," CBSSports.com's Jason La Canfora noted on Sunday. La Canfora continued:
"Arians' health has been a concern in the past and he has talked of fearing for his life at times in past years due to health complications. ...
But many coaches who know Arians, 64, well believe he will reconsider his career path after the season and assert that some in the coach's family will urge him to retire.

Arians Comments on His Health
Wednesday, Nov. 23
Arians told reporters he's "not on the injury report" and that he's a "full-go." However, Arians said he would not go in depth about his ailment, saying it's between him and his wife.
"I got an absolute clean bill of health so I have no problems," Arians said, per Josh Weinfuss of ESPN.com.

Fitzgerald Comments on Arians' Status
Monday, Nov. 21
Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald spoke to reporters, saying he talked with Arians, who said he's "resting comfortably" and feels better. Fitzgerald added he doesn't have concern regarding Arians because "from what we're hearing, he's going to be OK."
"We know what he would expect from us," Fitzgerald said of the team carrying on in the absence of its coach.
Cardinals Release Statement on Arians' Condition

The Cardinals released a statement on Arians' hospitalization, per Mark Dalton, the team's vice president of media relations:
"After returning home from Minnesota, Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians was experiencing discomfort and not feeling well during the night. His wife took him to a local hospital to be evaluated. All tests conducted so far have come back favorably. He remains in the hospital for continued evaluation. Further updates will be provided as they are available.
"
Cardinals team president Michael Bidwill released a statement providing an update on Arians, per Kyle Odegard of AZCardinals.com: "He looked good. We've been texting back and forth this afternoon and he seems to be in really good spirits."
Arians Has Been Hospitalized Before as Cards Coach
Arians, 64, was hospitalized in San Diego during the preseason after believing he had kidney stones, per Schefter. However, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, he was ultimately diagnosed with "diverticulitis, an inflammation of the colon."
Arians has spent four seasons as head coach of the Cardinals, going 38-20-1 and leading the team to the postseason twice. Arizona is 4-6-1 this season.
