Whitehead Active vs. Bears

Sunday, Dec. 11

The Lions announced Whitehead was available for Week 14.

Latest on Whitehead's Practice Status

Friday, Dec. 9

The Lions announced Whitehead was limited in Friday's session for the third straight day.

Whitehead Enjoying Career Season with Lions

Whitehead has assumed several different roles for the Lions since the franchise selected him in the fifth round of the 2012 draft. He's served as an eraser at middle linebacker this season, which has allowed him to set a new career high in combined tackles with 101 through 11 games.

The 26-year-old former Temple standout has also managed to stay on the field consistently throughout his career. He's missed just two games, both as a rookie. All of the ailments he's dealt with in recent years have been of the minor variety.

If Whitehead is sidelined moving forward, Antwione Williams may see more playing time as the team shuffles its linebacker group.

Whitehead has developed into a key piece whose versatility will be an asset as Detroit attempts to upgrade its defense moving forward.
