Week 10 Waiver-Wire Pickups: Sleepers Who May Still Be Available

David McCrackenNov 9, 2016

If you're entering Week 10 desperately looking for a player on the waiver wire who can turn your season around, it's possible that your season might already be over. But fantasy football players are stubborn and believe that the winning formula is out there somewhere.

It's because of this belief that we continue to start Jarvis Landry despite the fact that he is not putting up the same numbers he did last season. It's stubbornness. It's borderline insanity. But that's fantasy.

The waiver wire isn't full of gems at this point in the season, but there are some serviceable players to pick up in case of bye weeks or injuries to your starters. Here, we'll take a look at three players who are available in over 50 percent of Yahoo fantasy leagues along with a list of honorable mentions who may also be available to pick upif your priority on the waiver wire is high enough, that is.

Sleepers Who May Still Be Available

J.J. Nelson, WR, Arizona Cardinals (16 percent)

J.J. Nelson has burst onto the season in recent weeks for the Arizona Cardinals and has been rewarded for his breakout performances with a starting role on offense, according to head coach Bruce Arians (h/t Mike Jurecki of Fox Sports).

He's earned his spot on offense by outplaying the likes of Michael Floyd and, to an extent, John Brown. Nelson has seen 19 targets in his last two outings for the Cardinals, hauling in 11 catches for 163 yards and two scores during that span.

Nelson is getting on the field and making plays. He's a quick, dynamic and reliable target for Carson Palmersimilar to what Brown did in Arizona's offense a year ago.

Scoring 19.90 points in Week 8 against the Carolina Panthers and another 8.80 the week before, Nelson is on a hot streak heading into the final stretch of the season and deserves to be picked up on your team.

Chris Ivory, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars (35 percent)

Chris Ivory was an afterthought when the season began, missing the Jacksonville Jaguars' first two games while hospitalized. However, things seem to be looking up for the former New York Jet.

It's good to see Ivory healthy and playing football again. When he is fit enough, he can sure punish defenders who get in his way.

Ivory had a breakout game in Week 9 against the Kansas City Chiefs. He did fumble the ball in a crucial moment for Jacksonville, but if you can look past that, there is a lot of production that validates his claim for a roster spot on your team.

Ivory had 18 carries and ran for 107 yards, averaging 5.9 yards per carry, according to Yahoo Sports. He finished with 8.70 fantasy points, which isn't spectacular, but finding a tailback who can get that many touches on the waiver wire at this point in the season is a rarity.

Dontrelle Inman, WR, San Diego Chargers (4 percent)

For the casual NFL fan, Dontrelle Inman is not a household name. But for avid fantasy football players, he could be a candidate for the late-season, dark-horse sleeper of the year.

Inman shined back in Week 4, scoring 18.00 points in Yahoo leagues against the New Orleans Saints with 120 yards and a score. But then he vanished.

In the last three weeks, however, Inman seems to have found his stride once again.

Hauling in six catches for 56 yards on nine targets is a promising sign for any receiver available on the waiver wire, but the best part about Inman is that he has registered at least 56 yards yards receiving in his last three games, according to NFL.com.

Inman may not be the wideout who can replace the production of Keenan Allen for the San Diego Chargers, but he might be the right guy to fill a void at the No. 3 wide receiver position in your lineup this week.
