Adams Sets Packers Franchise Record with 25 Receptions in 2 Games
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Davante Adams set a new franchise record for most receptions over a two-game stretch, catching 25 combined passes in a Week 7 win over the Chicago Bears and Week 8 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, per ESPN.com's Rob Demovsky.
Previously held to five or fewer receptions in every contest this season, Adams has recently taken advantage of a slew of injuries to his teammates, with running backs Eddie Lacy and James Starks notably dealing with long-term ailments.
With Starks and Lacy absent in Week 7, the Packers had to use wide receivers Randall Cobb and Ty Montgomery out of the backfield, which freed up more looks for Adams.
He responded with 13 catches for 132 yards and two touchdowns on 16 targets, providing easily the most prolific stat line of his three-year career.
Montgomery and Cobb then missed Sunday's loss to Atlanta, leading to 14 targets for Adams, who corralled 12 of those for 74 yards.
He was unsurprisingly held to short gains for the most part, as the Falcons didn't need to worry about many weapons besides Adams and fellow wideout Jordy Nelson with Cobb, Montgomery, Lacy and Starks unavailable for the game.
The Packers still nearly managed an upset road victory, falling shy by just one point when Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Mohamed Sanu with 31 seconds remaining.
While Adams' strong play should ensure his continued involvement in a hot Green Bay offense, he'll probably see his role drop off a bit once some of his teammates return to the fold, perhaps starting with Sunday's Week 9 contest against the Indianapolis Colts.
