Reed Enjoying Outstanding 2016 with Redskins
The fourth-year man has shown flashes of elite ability as a tight end in the NFL, especially last season, when he put up 87 receptions for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns. Reed finished Week 12 with 10 receptions for 95 yards and two touchdowns despite the injury.
His performance last season prompted the Redskins to offer him a five-year, $46.75 million extension during the offseason, which he accepted.
However, injury issues have followed Reed throughout his first few seasons in the league. He's never played in all 16 games during any given year, as he's battled concussion and hamstring injuries that held him out for a combined 14 games over his first three NFL seasons.
He also missed Weeks 6 and 7 because of another concussion. Still, in nine games this year, Reed has caught 59 passes for 630 yards and five touchdowns, as he's become a favorite target of quarterback Kirk Cousins.
Given his size (6'2", 246 lbs) and athleticism, he resembles a wide receiver more than a tight end. It's easy to see why, via the NFL:
There is no question the Redskins are a better team with Reed on the field.
