Lacy Hopes to Return to Packers in 2017

Tuesday, Dec. 13

Lacy commented on his future with the Packers and hope to return to the team next season, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com:

"

I definitely hope so; I would love to be. I don’t see myself wanting to be anywhere else, but that’s something I can’t focus on right now. I just have to get myself better and put myself in a position to be good and do whatever I have to do.

Honestly I have no idea how any of that works. I’ll just sit back, talk to my agent and we’ll see where it goes.

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy told reporters Lacy will not return from injured reserve this season, with cornerback Makinton Dorleant named as the team's designated player to return.

Lacy Hits IR

Thursday, Oct. 20

The Packers announced they have officially placed Lacy on injured reserve and promoted running back Don Jackson to the active roster.

Field Yates of ESPN noted the earliest Lacy could return is Week 15.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Jackson will be the team's main running back for the time being. According to Rapoport, Jackson has not played a single snap in the NFL prior to Thursday's game against the Chicago Bears.

Lacy to Undergo Surgery

Thursday, Oct. 20

Lacy will require foot surgery, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. According to Schefter, it is unclear if the injury will end his season.

A Healthy Lacy Is Essential for Packers Offense

Lacy was in the midst of a resurgent season for the Packers. The 26-year-old came out of the gate stronger and leaner in 2016 than he was last year, with the results to back up his new physique.

In wins over Detroit and New York in Weeks 3 and 5, Lacy ran for a total of 184 yards on 28 carries. He was hobbled by an ankle injury suffered in that win over the Giants, leaving his status for Week 6 against Dallas up in the air.

In the loss, Lacy rushed 17 times for 65 yards while adding one catch for six yards.

The Packers offense has sputtered all season with Aaron Rodgers' accuracy being off, Jordy Nelson still finding his rhythm after missing all of last season and Randall Cobb not looking like the dynamic playmaker he has been in the past.

Schefter noted Lacy is an unrestricted free agent, making this an unfortunate time to encounter a serious injury.
