Heavyweight Merry-Go-Round In The UFC!

tony monstrolaOct 5, 2009

On November 21st, the Ultimate Fighting Championship will put on a pay-per-view featuring one of most intriguing heavyweights ever to grace the octogon. Brock Lesnar will make his second title defense against Shane Carwin.

The fight itself is and interesting one at that. With critics saying that Lesnar hasn't fought anybody his size, he will get someone his size in Shane Carwin. Shane Carwin has heavy hands and we could see Lesnars chin get tested in this fight. In the end i think, too much size to handle for Carwin, Lesnar by knockout.

That leads me into my next point, what competition is left for Brock Lesnar after Carwin? Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, is the rumor i have been hearing. If that is the case we could be looking a Heavyweight merry-go-round between Frank Mir, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and Randy Couture.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira- He is the biggest competition for Lesnar after Carwin. If he can get lesnar on his back, he could damage agaisnt Brock. If it is a stand up affair i think Lesnar wins it easy. If Frank Mir can find holes and cause damage in Nogueiras stand just imagine the damage Brock Lesnar would do.

Frank Mir- We saw what Brock did to Frank at UFC 100. Some say Frank got lucky in their first fight, but lets face it this sport is about skill not luck. Brock handled things the second time around, i think a rubber match would do well for the UFC and both fighters.

Randy Couture-Probably one of toughest road back to the heavyweight title. The Brock and Randy fight at UFC 91 was a good fight, but once again Brock just proved to be to powerful. If it happened again i think it would be the same result.

Some people maybe saying what about Junior Dos Santos or Cheick Kongo or Cain Velasquez. Those are very good fighters however, i think Santos and Velasquez need to fight for the number one contendership if Velasquez is able to beat Ben Rothwell at UFC 104.

I understand the heavyweight division looks better then ever, however i see one man at the top and as long as Fedor Emelianenko isn't in the UFC expect Brock Lesnar to be the champion for a long time.
