Jason Verrett Placed on PUP List by Chargers Due to Knee Injury
After suffering a season-ending ACL tear in 2016, Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Jason Verrett is starting training camp on the physically unable to perform list.
Per an official release from the Chargers' website, Verrett was placed on the PUP list Saturday.
The Chargers will begin training camp on Sunday.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Prior to going down with the knee injury last season, Verrett registered 13 tackles, three passes defended and one interception in four games.
Although he revealed he was crushed by the news, he attempted to remain positive and look ahead in an open letter he released on the Chargers' official website several days after the injury: "If you know me, you know that I'll be back. I can handle adversity, and this is only a small setback. I'm going to hit this on the head and bounce back better than ever."
The Bolts selected Verrett with the 25th overall pick in the 2014 NFL draft, and he quickly developed into a key contributor.
After playing just six games as a rookie due to a shoulder injury, the former TCU standout broke out in a big way in 2015 to the tune of 47 tackles, 12 passes defended, three interceptions and his first Pro Bowl appearance.
He was expected to return and resume his role as L.A.'s No. 1 corner in 2017. The Chargers may be taking things slowly with him because of the severity of a torn ACL and his injury history.
In addition to fellow starter Casey Hayward taking on more responsibility, Craig Mager may have to step into a starting role with Trevor Williams and Adrian Phillips being elevated as well.
The 26-year-old was quickly developing into an elite player at his position prior to a rash of injuries, and his momentum has once again been halted.
Verrett was able to bounce back from a torn ACL, however, and if he can work his way back from his current injury as well, the Chargers' otherwise suspect secondary will be far better off.
