Manchester City Transfer News: Sergio Aguero Reportedly Agrees 1-Year Extension
Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero is putting back plans to return to his Argentina homeland after reportedly agreeing to a one-year contract extension.
Aguero will now stay with City until 2020 after a deal was agreed in principle in January, according to Jonathan Smith of ESPN FC.
The Argentina star had previously stated he would return to his first club Independiente when his City contract was due to expire in 2019.

Under new manager Pep Guardiola, Aguero has enjoyed a stunning start to the season, netting nine goals already—including three in the Premier League prior to receiving a three-match ban for elbowing West Ham United defender Winston Reid.
The player's desire to return to his boyhood club Independiente even saw him team up with fellow former player Gabriel Milito to pay for a new training ground, per James Robson of the Manchester Evening News.
Upon the sites' unveiling, Aguero said: "Independiente fans know I finish my career here. Seeing this makes me happy."

However, Aguero will disappoint his countrymen by staying on for a further year at the Etihad Stadium.
After hitting his second hat-trick in the Champions League this season, Aguero is a man on top form.
City boss Guardiola said after the 4-0 win over Borussia Monchengladbach that Aguero is one of the best strikers he has seen.
As per Ken Lawrence of the Sun, the Spaniard said: "He is one of the best strikers I have worked with. He has a special quality in the box, he is a very special player."
PurelyFootball offered up the statistics since Guardiola and Aguero linked up:
Conversely, Aguero believes Guardiola’s approach is also bringing the best out in him. As noted by Chris Bascombe of the Telegraph, the striker said: "According to my style of playing, he is one of the managers that have helped me most in my career. Despite (my form) in the Premier League, and my last season at Atletico, I’ve improved in my game near the box and scoring goals. With Pep I will get even more chances."
Aguero's level has certainly gone up a notch this season, but it is perhaps another Spaniard who is playing just as big a part in his free-scoring opening to the season.

While Aguero's play in and around the penalty area looks to be improving with each match, it has been the arrival of Nolito, who, alongside Kevin De Bruyne, has provided the skilful edge to City's attacking play, and it allows the Argentina star to fully concentrate on adding the finishing touches.
The manner in which the club have started the campaign under Guardiola should bring confidence to every City supporter, and news of Aguero's commitment for another year can only boost their silverware prospects.
