Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Christian Pulisic, Anderson Talisca Rumours
Liverpool have reportedly not given up on signing Borussia Dortmund prodigy Christian Pulisic and will attempt to sign him next summer.
That's according to an exclusive from Bleacher Report UK's Dean Jones:
The American, who turns 18 on Sunday, scored twice in nine appearances for Dortmund's senior team in the Bundesliga last season as well as notching eight goals and eight assists for the youth side in all competitions.
Pulisic has played once thus far this season, registering an assist against Legia Warsaw in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday in BVB's 6-0 win. OptaJohan further revealed how he stood out:
Impressively, the winger—who can also play as a No. 10—has also made eight appearances for the United States' senior side, scoring three goals.
Former U.S. international Stuart Holden and NBC Soccer's Roger Bennett were impressed with him during the international break:
With the likes of Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino, Liverpool are hardly lacking quality on the wing or in midfield.
Nevertheless, Pulisic's pace, skill and vision that belies his tender years makes him one of the hottest prospects in the Bundesliga.
He's also worked with Reds manager Jurgen Klopp from his time at the club, per football writer Cristian Nyari:
He'd make an excellent capture for Liverpool, but landing him will be tough—expect Dortmund to fight tooth and nail to keep him.
Meanwhile, the Reds were among 11 Premier League clubs to send scouts to Benfica's 1-1 draw with Besiktas on Tuesday, where they saw Anderson Talisca score an injury-time free-kick for the Super Lig side.
The news came from Portuguese football writer Tom Kundert (h/t the Mirror's Alex Richards):
Per the Sun's Graham Hill, Liverpool were interested in signing the Brazilian this summer. However, the player moved on loan to Besiktas instead, and the Primeira Liga side may regret the move after his equalising goal on Tuesday.
The 22-year-old racked up nine goals and an assist for his parent club last season and is a real goal threat from distance and set pieces—as his strike on Tuesday demonstrated.
However, unless it's the case of bringing in a top young talent such as Pulisic, Liverpool don't need to add any more attacking midfielders to their squad—Talisca would likely struggle for game time.
