Tottenham Transfer News: Latest Harry Kane and Eric Dier Rumours
AC Milan reportedly want to sign Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane. The Rossoneri could use the money generated from their pending takeover by a Chinese consortium to fund any move for the Spurs attacker.
That's according to Darren Lewis of the Daily Mirror. He revealed how Milan plan to test Spurs' resolve not to sell their prolific No. 10: "Milan, who have been European champions seven times and won 18 domestic league titles but finished just eighth, 10th and seventh in Serie A over the past three seasons and currently sit 12th, are ready to make their own move for him—and believe they could yet have the financial clout to do so."
Milan were reportedly on the brink of being sold to Chinese interests back in July, according to former Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, per BBC News. In August, Berlusconi confirmed he had in fact agreed to a sale, per Reuters (h/t Sky Sports).

More recently, AC Milan Club of NYC shared a press release from Fininvest, detailing how the Rossoneri have signed a preliminary contract with Chinese investors.
While the confirmation of Milan's sale to Chinese interests is yet to be officially confirmed, if the deal goes through, there's no doubt the Serie A club would have the money to land Kane.
Yet, it's still far from certain Tottenham would sell or that Kane would welcome a move. The England striker recently completed his half-century of goals for the club, according to Bleacher Report UK:
The landmark goal came in Spurs' recent 4-0 away win over Stoke City in the Premier League, per BBC Sport's Jonathan Jurejko. Kane also revealed how he's already targeting the next 50, according to the club's official site:
Those don't sound like the words of a player ready and eager to move on from White Hart Lane in the near future. Honestly, why would Spurs even consider a sale?
After all, Kane and his goals are vital to the north London side's hopes of remaining a UEFA Champions League club. Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino needs to continue to build his teams around Kane, not worry about how to replace him.
Eric Dier Set for Bumper New Contract
One key player Spurs are already working on keeping is versatile midfielder Eric Dier. Tony Hughes of Football Insider has reported how Spurs are confident Dier will sign new terms worth £75,000 per week.
Hughes also revealed how negotiations have reached an "advanced" stage with the England international. It's excellent news for a squad that counts on Dier's flexibility at the base of midfield.

The 22-year-old has the brawn and positional discipline to form a tough shield in front of a solid back four. Dier's minder role is one reason why Tottenham conceded the joint-fewest goals in the Premier League last season, per the division's official site.
He's also important as a starter of moves from deep. Dier is a better passer than he's often given credit for and can pick out forward runners with an impressive array of long balls.
A converted centre-back, Dier has added balance to the Tottenham midfield. He offers forward-thinking talents such as Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli the freedom to concentrate on thriving in the final third.
It's no wonder the player has attracted admiring glances from some of Europe's biggest clubs, including Bayern Munich, according to Hughes: "Carlo Ancelotti hailed Dier as one of the best players at the European Championships, after being linked with a move to bring in the Spurs man as Xabi Alonso’s long-term replacement at the base of his new team’s midfield."
Securing Dier's future is a smart move by the Tottenham hierarchy. But it's keeping Kane that will really decide if Spurs can continue to make progress and enjoy success.
